Not all coppers are bad, like the ones on Saturday night who could have easily got me banned. I think it's a good career and if you can get into something specialised in the Police Force then you are laughing.
My mates Dad was an Inspector and he is fookin hilarious to go for a drink with.
Maybe she doesn't want to stay at home and be the usual house wife making babies. Not all women want that and my respect goes out to the ones that go for what they want.

My mates (then) GF joined Surrey Police. She pulled some long old hours (dunno whether through choice or not! 
) So they decided to split. However, it got VERY messy because she had her copper mates hassle him every where he went 
At the end of the day they believe her word over his!
Thats the horror story out the way.
I would say 75% are OK but you only ever hear about the 25% who are shits. I used to work with a couple of retired coppers. They were sound. The "Clip round the ear, now Fuck Off" type

Well I joined the Federal Police (the equivalent to the UK National Crime Squad) a few years ago and to date I have experienced:
*being involved in Australia's largest (at the time) haul of 'Ice' (crystal meth) 220+ kg
*being involved in Australia's largest haul of Ecstacy being 820 kg!
*being part of a surveillance team and doing many many fun things that would normally lose my licence!
* listening to 'interesting' conversations
In the future I plan to travel to the Soloman Islands and Cyprus.
It does have it's downsides, but Andy, tell your Missus its a top job

Tiff its only shit pay if you join from a young age.
Just think of the ups but it has some downs, child care being one of the biggest issues thru out.
If she does join basic training 10 weeks away although only at Ryton.

Initially just to become a special... See what I reckon to the people and the job...
