Hi all i need to get some red paint for my firsta. the paint code is R5. But what does this mean. as we i look at paint tin's in the shop none have R5 on them. ??????

Quick search and R5 is Rosso red.

 

Go to your local car paint suppliers - the one i use in my area is called ColourTone.

If they are half good they will have colour cards to match you existing paint shade - obviously paint fades over the years so if you just buy off the shelf paint rather than having it made to match your fresh paint will stick out a mile against your old paint.

ColourTone aerosols are Ł11 a tin, which is dearer than off the shelf but, for me at least, the extra coin is worth it the superior match and finish.

 

Ford codes arent the clearest, the code could be R or 5 or R5. If you want paint mixing for it just give the code to whoever is mixing it at the paint supplier and they should be able to find it.

 

Best bet is to take a paint sample to the paint mixer and they can get the shade spot on as there are a few variations to a paint code
