Black is better for heat transfer, so the theory is sound from the point of view of radiation, but if the paint is thick enough to form any sort of insulation then it will prevent heat loss by conduction, and at 100mph, radiation is nothing and conduction is everything.

Also black will heat soak off the rad more.

You'd need to do proper tests relevant to what you are using it for and be very specific about the application and thickness of the paint etc, as I suspect there isnt just one right answer that is always true.

anodising is quite expensive, and also isnt matt which is what you want.
"making out of black things" doesnt really work when its ally which isnt black.

Probably best not to worry about it Dojj. Mine is Black with the SPEC-R label plastered all over it. It shows +8 after a Topspeed run my previous RS500 one was also Black but it showed +40 with the WI working its guts out to keep up. Worry about how efficient the core is mate thats all that matters you can paint in Pink if you want .

Very true rod, getting the temperature from the air inside the intercooler to the outside of the intercooler is all about the core technology and is FAR more important!

My intercooler on my old Focus ST was black as I wanted it to be stealthy, but it came from AirTec like that.

Spray a shiny polished IC black and they look tatty quick due to the paint chipping off...
