Hoping somebody on here might be able to help , I've recently brought a 2wd Cosworth and it came with a half decent spec or so I thought , I've since been watching him sell bits on here that were meant to be fitted to my car but that's by the by .
Anyway part of the spec was a stage 3 msd chip , I have a reciept for it but it certainly doesn't feel like a stage 3 car ( or run like one ) so I opened the ecu ( L6 ) and this is the chip that's in it !! I've spoken to msd and they confirmed it's not one of their chips .



I've done no end of searches on the net but can find nothing on it what so ever , my cars spec is T34.48 , 500 cooler , greens , large k&n , L6 .
I'm going to get it remapped anyway but wondered if anybody had any idea of the chip .

Funnily enough I looked on their site and couldn't see anything that related to it , any idea how old it might be , thei current chips seem to have a diffrent design/font on them .

 

Seems a bit of a piss take that the guy you bought the car from sold off some of the goodies that should have been on it when you got it.
From what you have said as it seems to lack power I would say he probably stuck a standard chip in it before selling it to you.
Get it up to MSD they will sort you out and get it running properly.

 

It's certainly not mapped properly , won't hold boost , fumey as fuck , hate to think what it would be like on emissions if I had to put it through an mot .
Harvey's just down the road from me so will probably have a chat with him and for the time being chuck an Ahmed chip in just to get it running properly for the minute while I sort out a few other issues .

I am starting to feel I've been turned over , I would like to think I've never done that to anyone else but seems to be quite a bit of it going on now with regards to some of the posts on the forum now

 

That's a castle performance label. Get Harvey and jim to swop it out and set it up and your away. All will be well.

 

bit naughty to have taken stuff off the car that you were meant to be getting and then be openly selling it! Did you buy the car through PF? If so he must know you'd spot it!!

 

Yes mate brought the car through pf , unfortunately brought it with my heart and not my head .
God knows what's on this chip then as castle have been shut down a good few years now .

 

Castle always used Ahmed Bayjoo programs, so if the car's running poorly, it won't be the chip, it'll be a set up problem.

 

How do you know the chip matches his engine spec?

 

I don't mate, was just saying that Castle programs were Ahmed Bayjoo programs, that's a Castle sticker.

 

I've now purchased a msd chip correct for my set up and will be sending the castle chip back to them to read and find out what it's mapped for , must say msd have been excellent with their help and offer to read the old chip to satisfy my curiosity .

 

So the issue could be the chip, because although the data on it may be good for someone, it may not suit the car its fitted in at all.
