Ok just got in and I'm seeing all the 90s- cars, whats going on?

Awesome to see them again live on tv, should be good watching cars with different setups and engines

Oh and how come they all look like they did back then? Have they been restored or what?

They was on slicks, Rain came they all pitted on parade lap for wets and by the time they was ready to race it was to late as the BTCC race has to start on time.
So they might run it after but I'm guessing itv4 wont show it now

Really hate seeing the demolition derby style,
Especially the factory teams against the privateers.

The factory teams will use their own engines purely for marketing,
Would look very bad if say Honda/BMW used another brand of engines lol
Not sure about the smaller teams they might use anything that will fit if they need a new engine.
But they have to be built to certain spec IE 2litre, turbo charged, direct injection
and only get 4 engines per car for the season.

MG 888 team use the toca ngtc engine.

Its a shame they did not over run the btcc coverage like they do with football or snooker etc and then run the boring tennis late.

Yeah I know, it would only be 30mins tops. Oh well.

So did I read right? It's on the itv website at 8pm tomorrow? Or did it mean on the itv4 channel? The misses was talking and it flashed off the screen

They all look the same as they are all the original cars mate , and to run in this series they have to carry the original livery from that period

I was at oulton all weekend and had a great time

Im quite involved with this historic super touring series and its put a real spark back into my life if im honest , its great to be involved

Its great to see the old moneys no object super touring cars being used. I bet its not cheap running them now with the lack of parts available as highlighted by John Cleland on tv today.

Thats the big downside to it

The Labatts BMW will retire after today due to this issue alone

the owner has an RS500 touring car that i have just done some resto work on and also a Honda super tourer he will use rather than the BMW

its a real buzz being around these great cars and seeing them race again

This is the IMBERTI rs500 i have been working on

Not bad realy

All engine parts can be bought over the counter , its gearbox and susp parts that are hard to find , but many of these rare parts are being remanufactured now so this will make life easier

So there could be more RS500's going into the championship rather than the supertouring cars? (car price depending)
