I would say it's a fair price give or take considering the mileage as long as there is nothing wrong with it, all you can do is go and take a look. If it wasn't for the miles it's done it would be worth a lot more.

its had £1500 spent this year, new suspension, new brakes, hubs, 2 wheels, track rods, bottom arms and 3 owners with lots of history, they seem genuine and are willing for me to have an aa inspection (im not going to rip off but its a good sign its legit)

weve got an astra dsi 1.7 that's now done almost 190000 miles and aside from an alternator, 4 cambelts and a starter motor the engine/gearbox has had nothing !

our family car will do approx 10k miles a year give or take, suspension/brakes tyres are all new so I guess if its mechanically sound it should be a good buy.

I'd say it's certainly worth a look if nothing else at that money, alot of car for very little cash really.

Our one had to get a new clutch and flywheel the week after we bought it at 90k but coming from a dealer it came out of his pocket rather than mine so not sure of exact costs involved. Our old 2.0 TDCI was just under a grand so imagine the 2.2 to be around the same unless you can do it yourself,I didn't fancy that job on the driveway though.

It's been very reliable other than the clutch problem but I expected that one anyway at some point,it gets used and abused the poor old car,we're up to 106k now and still going strong.

just got home I bought it, £2700. everything works, it runs and drives perfectly needs 1 new rear alloy but they supplied it, aside from 1 small rust patch like a 50 pence and a few stone chips its bang on, it was a bargain imo at that price, goes real well to drove home 140 miles faultlessly

had a good look and 1 rear tyre has an egg bulgeing out of it on the inside on the damaged rear alloy
fronts are well down so im gonna get 4 new tyres and the supplied new alloy fitted to replace the damaged one, will just new some very tiny cosmetic touch ups just for stone chips and the 1 rust piece and she will good to go for a family runabout

this is my first daily ford for a long time

its got about 10mm of play in each end it runs as quiet as a mouse now, and I mean proper quiet for an oil burner from cold start, hot start, running and revving no rattles I can hear at all

I dare bet the main reason they were selling it was due to the rattling sound, they no doubt thought it was something sinister like the dual mass flywheel.

I was a little concerned about the bottom pulley but its such a tiny wobble Im sure im worrying over nothing tbh.

How big and expensive a job is it to do the pulley and belt?

Ours is rattling like a fucker since a while but the other 3 I've seen in town sound the same so never really worried much about it either

the belt and adjuster pulley was £80 + vat trade from cas.
it took us 1.5 hrs start to finish had never done it before, it is tight but doable.

the hardest part was compressing the adjuster, I made a tool from a ground down welded up ratchet theres very little clearance to get in there and its a 1/2 inch square that's needed, I guess maybe 20mm clearance to get in then drop in the hole, it was a pig

on a guide I saw they said to remove the alternator and mounting bracket for adjuster but we managed it all on the car it was proper tight though.
now I have the modified ratchet to compress the spring and we know what to do its a 1 hour job I reckon

im not gonna lie it is tight and an arse, without a made tool to tension the belt you will not get the new one on, old one came of easy as the adjuster was knackered.

easy enough tool to make though, could also be made with 2 pins about 2" apart as theres 2 slots for square drive.

Its always the same isnt it. You look for a car for ages then once you have one they all seem to pop up a bit cheaper.

A lad I know has a blue st tdci hatch back. He got his chipped and he said its a flying machine compared to what it was like.
