Hi guys, I've recently hopped from the cossie scene into a mk1 escort. I stumbled across a 1974 2 door mint shell but it has no registration number. All chassis tags are in order and the chassis number is stamped into the strut top on the drivers side. I have found various sites which help me to decode the chassis number, so I know it's a November 1974 in white, 2 door made in Britain shell.
Dvla aren't being helpful as they need a reg number and hpi don't have any info on the chassis number. Is there anyone out there who would have a database or any info from this chassis number please? ( a reg number would be great)

you could enquire about an age related plate

I would have thought that the DVLA would have been able to search under Chassis numbers maybe you just got an unhelpful one or its a DPA issue.

The reason I say this is becuase surely searching by chassis number is how they would check if a car was a ringer or on the wrong reg plate and what plate should be on the car.

Only other thing could be is if you have a friend in Plod they could maybe check the PNC?

It'll most likely end up on Q plate as it doesn't have the original engine, gearbox, suspension, axle etc.

Just hpi the chassis number it will then give you the reg

can u not use etis system online as that brings up reg aswell my car is private plate and the system brings up original reg
