What will it be worth in another 10 years!

It's not the price it's what will someone pay for it and someone will pay close to that no doubt. It's more a collectors piece in that condition.

There has to be a limit ultimately to what a tarted up ford sierra in good nick can be worth, so I suspect that as an investment it might not be great at that money, but no one will know for another 10 years what it will be worth in ten years.

The purists/saddos dont see an rs500 as just a tarted up 3 door cossie, which is just a tarted up 3 door sierra

Wow, I like that! I suppose when you get into that sort of territory miles wise then it's a totally different ball game all over again compared to a 'normal' RS500.

Indeed, big price gap between a nice car, and a collectors piece.

If you were to put 66k in a fixed rate bond today it would yield 88k after taxes in 10 years there are ways to get more but thats risk free.

The RS500 investment potential is still lagging a Building Society if you invested 20k in 1987 it would be around 69k today.
From 20k in 1987 to 66k today is 4.5% per annum increase if it keeps to that then its 102k in 10 years.
You have to keep/store it in the manner it requires & you certainly cant use it & i guess storage & upkeep costs money.

Its a risk & not a great earner at this point BUT!!!!

A Classic Ferrari has risen on average 15% each year since 1980 now thats an investment.

people pay that sort of money for a new range rover, new base 911 , what do top spec mercs/bm's go for?

if you have money to burn then 60 odd k is nothing for a nice as new motor and atleast it won't depreciate like a new range would.

Go and drive 30K miles in both this and a new range rover and I suspect the depreciation would be similar!

the people that can afford to pay this sort of money are likely to be collectors who dont see it as an investment. They buy them purley to have this particular car in their collection. Basically big boys toys whereby money is no object.

Since they've been going up in value, eventually a large percentage will be sold by the enthusiast to the collectors - mainly because the enthusiats is likely to have ŁŁŁ in their eyes! lol
