after my thread the other day about the r35 ryan is selling and me considering the 2 + 2 seat arrangement it got me thinking about the evo with its 2 + 3 seats.
without any gearing alterations and with 600-700 hp does anyone know what sort of time they will 30 - 130 mph in ?
whats the limit in power terms for any sort of reliability?
im not interested in cars built specifically for the 30 - 130 event, more just tuned road cars like my r33 with tall gearing and capable of near on 200 mph still.

Hi mate not sure on 30-130 but 600bhp evo will do 0-100 in lower 7s. My dads got a evo 6 running 560 bhp and 520 torques. Its reliable and never missed a beat but it has an uprated diff from standard to rs diff, double plate clutch. Gear box is standard tho and so ia transfer box. Id think you would need 900bhp evo to crack 200 mph tho?

200mph at all or just in the 1/4? Certainly shouldn't need anywhere near 900bhp just to reach it on a long road. I'd have thought 500+ depending how bad the drag actually is on an Evo.

And for over 600 bhp gear box probably wouldn't last neither the transfer box.

That would be about on par with my r33 then I've done 0 to 100 mph in 7.2 seconds with a little left in it still I'm sure. Not bothered about 200 mph specifically just no silly low gearing killing the top end

Ross Sport (who held the 30-130 record for a bit) say a standard evo will do it in about 24 seconds, and a 400bhp one should do it in the 18 second bracket. Their evo was 939bhp and did it in 5.84 seconds.

So with my r33 at approx 710 crank hp 0 to 100 mph in 7.2 seconds and 30 to 130 mph in 9.76 seconds and geared for about 200 mph at 8700 rpm with just 5 gears h pattern.
How much power would an evo need to be on par with that full fat road car?

I reckon for the sprinting you'd need less in an evo, they weigh a bit less than a skyline, but I reckon to pull 200mph you would need a little more, the Norris designs evo 7 hit 200.3mph and it had 771bhp. Ran a low 10 (10.3iirc), was a full weight car.

And Scooby slayer I reckon a good 620+ bhp evo with 550ish torque would be quicker through the gears than your r33 but wouldn't have the top end I doubt

Ye I think the 7 had 6 gears. Not sure if the ratios were standard though.

It must have either been a after market or modified as It would have went bang lol I know the 6 speed are weaker than the 5 speed as well

Maybe consider a B5 RS4 if you want some practicality. No worries with gearboxes/diffs etc. The Audi guys tens to use 100-200kph as a benchmark. This one is around 800hp, but you don't need that much

I was always told a genuine 400 bhp Evo will be about as quick as a gen 500 bhp skyline.
My mates 440 bhp Evo 8 rs certainly feels every bit as quick as my old mans 550 bhp skyline buy delivers it in a very different way. Seems a lot more accessible than the skyline did.
