i don't, don't even carry my licence.....
just incase the car gets broken into/nicked......some twat drives off in your pride and joy, gets pulled, produces your docs and stuff, and carries on, lol.....

Technically it is illegal not to carry your docs with you, but the old bill tell u not to. How contradictive is that

i got told never to show docs on the side of the road as if the copper has had a bad day he can see if you have points and then pick things out so you get more

I just assumed you couldnt produce at the side of the road because when you produce at a Police station they fill out loads of forms to confirm your docs are legit, and an Officer at the side of the road wouldnt have time to fill out the forms

They fill one page out with your details , they record your driver number and driver entitlements from your license and when its valid too and from
From your insurance they record policy number , name of broker and valid from/to dates
From the MOT they record serial number , testing station number name of testing station and again valid from dates .
A police officer can check this out at the side of the road

Do they carry the forms round with them to take all the details then? (ie: driver number, insurance policy number, mot cert serial number etc....)

well i never carry me docs on me as now days they know all about ya before they tugg ya unless ya driving ya missus car, then they just ask me what insurance i git, i tell em and they then fook off, when i was driving the 1300 in my name the fookers would tug me and due to my "few" points they look for things to do me with 
hence why all the cars are now in the missus name, also helps if i ever get a camera flash me as all my misus has gotta say is she aint got a clue who it is and they force the points on her

How do they verify if the details are correct then if they dont record the details?
Dont get me wrong, if what you're saying is true then fair enough, I have no idea whether it is or not, it just doesnt seem to make sense to me.
When you produce at a station, I was under the impression they record the details and the form is then sent to Admin to verify the details are correct / policy exists?

nearly got caught today in blackpool and the fookerwas in the glove box

Yep they not interested in the paper work. they just try to find something wrong so they can give you a fixed penalty. with me it always for not wearing my seat belt.

I don't use a wallet or anything so I don't tend to carry my driving license at all unless I am going somewhere I might need it... ie Clubbing ID 
My insurance, MOT and V5 are tucked away in a file with all of my receipts and stuff for car

i always carry mine copeers round my end have nuffing better 2 do then pull u ova, i usd 2 average 4 producers a week so i refused to produce my documents after the 10th time went 2 court and i had photocopies of all the producers i gt a letter of apology from the cop station, so 2 stop the hassle i always carry em nw. i was told that my car was on a kind of "watch list" on the cops database which was y i was gettin pulled so much can they do this???
