Default another what car thread....sorry...

i've been using the e46 330ci m sport as a daily for over a year now, it's great but new family member and fuel economy not being great, it's time for a new motor.
budget isn't great, circa 5-7k depending on what i get for the current motor.
i've been looking at 330d e90's and they seem to tick the boxes, but how do the 320d's compare in terms of performance and economy?

just to balls it up further, i have also been considering 530d saloons and tourings in 3 and 5 series variants due to extra load space for cycle/prams/shopping.

i'll be out looking at a few on the next week, just want to weed out what not to bother with really and judge whether the extra engine size is worth it over the economy (remaps are an option either way).

if i had the cash i'd be in a 335d, but that isn't the case sadly.

cheers
sean

Im about to buy a 320d m sport touring at the weekend hopefully, Ł300 remap could see around 220hp ive been advised. Been fedup putting fuel in the S5 so going to enjoy a bit of cheap motoring for abit!

but will 220bhp be enough......
the 320's are much cheaper than the 330's in similar condition.
