Default Nice Orion...

Shame it's a Lx...

http://bit.ly/1c9126d

Lovely example but alittle expensive...

If only I wasn't moving...
I'd go to £2k at a push...

I dosent matter if you plan to modify it, different engine and slam it on some good wheels and know one would give two shits it a LX

You get the crap of the crap and then modify it

How many people drive around in a standard Orion?

I had an H plate Orion LX and was one of the most realiable cars I could care to mention. The build quality on the last ones was defiantely noticeably better built in my opinion. 7 years of totally aggro free miles on my one , did 40k and went everywhere in .
Fantastic car for whats its purpose is . Id buy it if had the need for it.

There is something about them . Its expensive to say the least but if you bought it for pottering about in and the odd distance journey each year that 5k could save you an awful lot of aggro and costs the modern car can arise over the years. My old one needed for nothing in a 7 year period and i mean nothing other than plug, air filter and oil change. Didnt even replace a fuse or bulb
I cant see it sitting around for long.

The LX wouldn't bother me I'd be more interested the shell condition,
but 5k is a bit steep.

Lovely looking example though

That black one is still kicking about eBay even now I think.

I bought a black Orion Ghia with the RS kit on, it's in pretty good shape other than a few rusty niggles.

That sounds about right mate, I bought it whilst it was still advertised on ebay so maybe he ended it early with that excuse,

Its a good car but is hiding some rusty bits!

Thanks mate, yeah it's an irish plate the owner before the last one was from Northern Ireland so car was re-registered over there, When it came back to UK had the choice of keeping it on NI Plate or G plate Uk. I thought it was a bit different so just left it

Orion's aren't to everyone's taste but I love em! They make a nice sleeper and more practical than the wife's merc for the kids!
Mine is ZT, and mapped by Paul Hills to approx 360bhp.

It might look like a shit old mans car to some people but I don't care about other peoples negative comments.

Always gets attention

Orions have never pulled any money. That's how I got into rs ownership, I couldn't afford a fast ford when I was younger but there was always an orion going cheap and eventually i manaed to turbo it. I didn't even get an offer on mine at 3k ( negotiable) and that was with receipts for over double that. Let alone all the stuff I bought used for it. And although its been sitting a while now, at the time of sale it held its own against the best of them.

https://passionford.com/forum/cars-f...ighlight=orion

Joe.

This isn't a for sale post either. Its mothballed at my dads place whilst I'm half way across the world. Just for the mods info

Bit of a thread resurrection but you will be glad you never bought it S2 Cabby, It is absolutely riddled with rot.

Inner Wing, Rear arch had polyfilla in it , Chassis leg rotten, Roof Rotten, Sills like a junkies teeth etc.

It's off to the scrap yard in the sky. Just need to see how much the RS kit sells for.

I thought so mate.

- Inner Wing is rotten as drivers door is pulling parts of the inner wing off when the door opens
- Driver side outer and inner sills are rotten and when we started to pull the kit off it wasn't coming off but pulling the sill with it!
- Boot Floor rotten through onto rear chassis leg which itself is quite corroded.
- Front Slam Panel and front panel crumbled
- Rear drivers inner wing has been filled between the rust holes
- Filler neck rotten and detached from the rear quarter.
- Sunroof cartridge rotten
- Roof bubbling

So yeah it's pretty far gone, One of the dangers of buying a car that you cant see first until you have been down on a plane and already out of pocket going to see it.

If it had been more local I would have had a chance to look over it first.

Managed to take the recaro's and wheels from it for my other orion so will use it as a donor for building up the other ones Zetec Turbo conversion.

had the car have been an RS or been worth a fair few ££ I would maybe have sorted the rust but it would never be cost effective to get all that sorted on a ghia
