Any way I keep looking at jaguar cars I just can not under stand why they are so cheap . Like for a 02 plate £1000 04 £1400 why are they so cheap and dose any one no witch ones to go for and witch ones to keep clear of any help would be nice .

X Types are cheap!
Underneath they are just a MK3 Mondeo.

The V6 models, especially the AWD models are cheap as chips, reliable but can be thirsty.

I'd go bmw e39 5 series.get a decent spec one for around £1500.

Are the cossie and focos going to a new home?

My dad had a xtype. Just cause its a mondeo underneath doesnt mean its a shit car. My dads drove well and was quick enough. It had really good build quality too.

The amount of fuel it would use is not a problem as it's got to be better than a Cosworth mpg . And I'm qwite happy if some of them are a mondeo running gear as mondeo,s are a good car .
I'v got to be onist from wot I'm seeing and hearing I think I mite just get one I don't think I could go wrong for £1400 ish if some thing was to go rong I would stand a chance of putting it rite my self if not you just bin it for that tipe of price that's the way I'm looking at it

Jaguar is the "better" ford.
Would love a nice jaguar S or X type in mallard or british racing green.
Some have really great designs and quality.

I was looking at buying a X Type last year. I was told by a mechanic friend of mine, that the petrol versions suffer from oil problems. With a little bit of research, it turns out the sump and oil pick ups were badly redesigned to fit the engine transversely into the X type. No warning, bar a quick flicker of the oil light, then boom, pistons everywhere.

Which engines, or years it effects Im not sure of, and I stand to be corrected.

I had a 2.5 sport for a while. Lovely car, very smooth and comfie. But it was very thirsty so had to go. It was an 02 plate and it went for £1200, can't go wrong with that.

They are Ford engines, which are transverse?

Both the S type and the XF are based on the Ford Lincoln as well.

Avoid anything even loosely related to a Mondeo in any guise.
