Believe it's the original engine/box and clutch.

Audi clocks another big digit , still on original clutch and uses 1/3 litre of oil every 10k , when I get to 500 I may get a new audi when it gets to 477 , that is the same distance as the moon and back, lol

thats good going, think most impressive is that much on one clutch!

my wifes mk1 focus 1600 is just coming upto 219k and that is also on its original clutch, engine and box. I don't think the head has ever been off?

just proves how long stuff will last with oil changes, and people are still hung up on 100k even these days.

Think the most I'd seen before this was on a pug 406 taxi and that was 414k.

Remember this is an old 1996/7 thing, maybe a different lump than you're thinking of?

They use this engine in Volvo 850/V70s too..

Just for a laugh, at Ł1.30 a litre, and at 45mpg (thats what i guess it will average) 440K would cost Ł65,780 in fuel alone!

I'd love to clock up miles like that! It would be a great party piece.

People look at me stupid when I say my 08' Mondeo is on 131k. Get the usual "Will be costing you money" "It'll be knackered soon" where in reality it drives like new and the only thing I've had to replace is the auxiliary belt tensioner because the bearing wore out.
I think all it takes is a bit of mechanical sympathy and regular oil changes.
I change my oil every 6k/6months. When I dropped the car into Ford yesterday for them to replace the tensioner and a few other odds and ends I told them to do an oil change. I only realised when I got home that the last oil change was just 3k ago on the 20th December

it may have been knackered soon if it was still 1965?

although everyone accepts cars and technology have moved on along way since then, lots of peoples views on this particular subject haven't for some reason?

Thats just it, people dont realise that things have moved on and maintence is essential to keeping their cars running sweet etc...

My trusty Passat 1.9 TDI PD130 automatic was bought new by my dad and I've owned it for just over a year now. It's covered 315k on the original engine & box and still drives perfect. Engine sounds sweet as a nut too!

I'm surprised that Audi has lasted so well with the 2.5V6 TDI as it was never a great engine.

My 2000 Focus TDDi Estate clocked over to 200k not so long ago, same thing though, people say "Yeah it will be broken soon, somthing will brake blah blah" Yet it drives spot on, it had a clutch just before I bought it and an aux belt. Has 1 clicky drive shaft, apart from that it handles like Maradonna.

in a van most of those mileages are done in about 3 years

as long as you have some degree of mechanical sympathy and service it regularly most things will go on and no now

My audi is a 2010 with 118k on the clock now, seems to drive like new hope to have another 118k out of it!

I told other people about the car when i got it and everyone keeps saying "oh thats to much and it will break soon." or "god thats a lot! It will be worthless in a years time as nobody will want to buy it with high miles." oh well never mind then lol.

Just look after things and they will look after you.

I've got a P reg BMW 323 that's nearing 179k. Still feels tight and pulls well.
