Just switch the A/C on, funnily enough lol.

I use it nearly all the time when it's raining or damp outside, just keep the fan setting on a low speed towards the windscreen with A/C switched on, no fogging up issues anywhere in the car. Don't notice any change in MPG or driveability on with it either.

And just have it on the heat you want, or does it have to be cold?

Aircon exctracts moisture from the air, so as above, just turn it on and keep the windows shut!

the heat is largely irrelevant unless you have it so hot you get condensation on the outside on a really cold day

Just set the heat to however you want it, I leave the climate in my car set to a toasty 23 degrees with a/c on.

I tried it on my Astra & it made it worse if anything leaving a milky sort of residue on all the windows I put it on. Thinking I must of done something wrong I cleaned it all off & started from scratch with the same result.
After asking my mate who bought a tub at the same time as me how he got on with it he had exactly the same results so over all my recommendation is don't bother

When I pull off with A/C on it seems to bog down more, I have to give it quite a bit more throttle. It's been the same with all my cars that have had A/C.
I think the fact I'm so light on the throttle doesn't help matters.
That said I don't hang about either! I just try to be gentle and smooth.

I took my spare wheel out and bought a genuine Ford compressor with the built in tyreweld to save a little weight.
But removing the seats is just silly.

A/C gets used when it needs to be used! During the summer it's on constantly.
During the winter I make sure I use it for 30mins a week too just to keep it working, but I use it for demisting if I have too!
The dehumidifiers work perfectly well.

On another note, do you have the finis for the door module you fitted to your mondingo to activate the power mirrors with locking? I've seen the part number on another thread of yours but if you had the finis that would be fan-dabby-dozey.

Cheers!

Thanks for that mate, I have just found your thread on talk ford. Found an FC module on ebay which is supposed to be an updated one, was only Ł30, will see if it works.

its not the compressor, it's the ecu which disengages it at full throttle, sierras with ac from 25 years ago had these feature so i'm not sure why anything newer would remove that?

anyway, my bags turned up yesterday and so i stuck them in the car

this morning, no condensation inside

bought 2 of these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEAFB:IT

one on the dash, one on the rear seats, job jobbed me thinks

Do you have link for thread?

I know some people wire the folding mirrors in with a relay just?

my car tends to sit for many months at a time in some cases (longest was 8 months) so i'd rather have more belt and braces than the potential for it to fill up and then not have anything else to suck up the mostiure

over the past winter it's had icicles on the inside of the windscreen, but all the other windows were fine

Good news since I've bought the same and will be using a single bag per car.

Well I've ordered four...

One for FRS, one for ST200, one for housemate's Golf and one spare.

My mate has an Astra and it's always like a sauna for steam it's so shit. My mk2 focus and my girlfriends mk6 Fiest have no steamy window problems at all. Even with 4 people.

I usually have the heater on setting 1 all the time on the feet/windscreen setting and blank off the two inner vents and open the side dash vents aimed at front door windows. Temperature just depends on how comfortable I or passengers are with the temperature

Will be getting a couple myself. But, for the time being, I noticed that the 1kg bags of silica that we get in the shipping containers at work are more or less the same stuff. And what do you know, after a couple of hrs in the boiler room at work drying they have done the job. With the tight security we have, I had to pay 50p to take 4 bags. Not bad eh. The real deal might be better again regarding longevity, so I will try them too.

and again this morning, inside is dry as an AA meeting but the outside windscreen has a film of water on it

they dry out themselves from what i gather, they capture the moisture in the air when it exceeds one point and then release it back when it's too dry

I've got 7 bags and 3 cars (use 2 in my CSL at a time as it's sitting in the garage) and I keep rotating them every week (usually get around 200-250g of water each time as I weigh them coz I'm sad like that lol).
