Default anyone know what these 2 sensors do?

Want to use these for megasquirt and dash gauge.. only problem is I'm concerned that one isn't a temperature sensor as we couldn't get an ohms reading from the one with the bumped end.
Anyone clued up? It's from a mondeo mk2 1.8 I see a couple of these twin sensor housings in the breakers the other day and bizarrely they had a square clip type plug on the bottom sensor?!

Well I'm not sure whether this is a fan switch though, if it is then that could explain why im not getting a reading because it isn't hot enough to work. Useless for a gauge or megasquirt!!

I'll have to test this out when i get home

what does 'can't get a reading' actually mean? short circuit or open circuit?

Nope, especially when you dont have any voltage/resistance scalings for any random sensors !!

Just buy new ones ! that you have all the info on them you need to make them work.

As said, it must have a resistance, otherwise there it would not complete a circuit!

Even if it is a fan switch? wouldn't a circuit only be made when the coolant gets the sensor hot enough

Correct, these are always two pin as well IME, it's essentially a thermostat.

again, what the fuck does get a reading mean? you will always get a reading from the meter: either open circuit, short circuit or something in between. so what do you get?
