hi all i have an 89 sierra sapphire cosworth with rusty chassis legs and have found an 84 3dr sierra cosworth rep for sale that is suppost to have a solid chassis and no rust, i am wondering if my engine, gearbox and ancellieries will just bolt in and be an easy conversion or will there be any problems? thanks all!!

I take it ur saff is 2wd. If so it should all just bolt in. I would make sure that 3dr you have seen is solid and not rusty.

Gearbox cradle: 3dr is steel and 2wd saph is alloy
As Glenn says Rear ARB: 3dr is 14mm and 2wd saph is 16mm

could you not buy the rep and then get a genuine shell (bare from a breaker then build that up and sell the rep 3dr shell and unwanted saff parts.

Just an idea to get a real one but it will take time to do. cheaper too

Fuse box and that area of the bulhead is differnt on 3dr/Sapphire so not a straight swap.
Interior is all entirely different.
Chassis legs are different lengths.

Ancilliaries that plug into the wiring loom may not work on the old loom and the new one doesn't fit.

Check the gearbox tunnel in the base model will accept a t5 box some of the very early models had a smaller gearbox tunnel but I think that was the 1.3 pinto versions as I've only heard of a very rare few that couldn't fit the t5 gearbox, you will also need to drill holes for the cosworth gearbox mount and add some strengthening plates as the gearbox tunnel/floor is very thin metal to hold the weight of the gearbox whereAs the cosworth she'll already has the mounting points and spacer skin on the underside where it bolts up

dave i seen it for sale before ,its a rep and will always be a rep lol

it wont be worth half of what you put into it to make it look anyway decent .

you would be 100 times better off doing up the saff an if the shell is to bad just reshell into a better one

the saff lookls great ,stick with that is say.you can get new rear chassis legs so anything is fixable

you would need to spray that 3dr too and the kit is fbreglass so you would probably replace at some stage
