The loom comes in two halves:
1: the car electronics side
2: the engine.
You should only need to remove the engine loom, this is located down the driverside of the Cavalier, with the ECU bolting to the inner of the bulkhead.
Just mark up/photograph the wiring plugs/connections when you remove them from the engine. Then remove the engine loom.
You should be left with a smaler section of loom and wont have the alarm ecu, 4wd ecu or anything of that nature.
hope that helps??

No probs. Ignore the loom in the box. i presume that is what you have been looking at a "bricking it"
You should only have the engine loom and a big black multiplug that basically connects with the ecu at one end. The other end should be the spade connections for the earth points and battery connections.
The 1.3 sr should be fine as there is no needless wiring to get in the way as it carb fed.
The digi dash should be easy enough to connect up, there are more power and earth connections. It is just a caso of using the GTE g/box transducer and mating up the appropriate wires for it.

digi dash is wired up already and working, except its over reading on the speedo.
on the engine loom there is the big plug which we understand, and a few other connectors branching off the big set of wires. im guessing they are the bits that need connecting up to the nova loom

i looked in the box and theres 5 fooking extra modules and no fooking discription of what they are

If the clocks are over reading you can "try" flicking the lil red switch on top of the clocks, think its hidden at the back in a central position. This affects how it reads. Failing that did the transducer come out of the same car as the clocks?? as there a re a few different kinds

i'll remind u that all i do is make tea next time u want your exhaust sorting out.
ive flicked the red switch, i think it was from the same car, it seam to work ok on my mates sri nova, just not mine. im hopinh it will be better with my new engine.

bewarned james, theres a cue and hes curantly taking bookings after the new year now
this is gonna be a fun weekend
if the looms all self contained then its easier than the hayne manual makes it look
i was looking foward to ripping the loom apart and fitting it as a subloom too
well was fun doing my cabrio engines one
