2014 to be another record year for classics
watching cnbc this morning and some guru reckons that the stock market may have peeked so the wise money will move into the top notch property in cities like london ,sanfrancisco, hong kong etc .
he also predicts that classic cars will get a big boost as people take money from stocks and invest in hard commodities ,that can be cashed in if needs be
last year saw something like 5 out of 6 highest prices ever paid for classic cars especially ferraris

I have a subscription to Octane mag and the numbers are up month on month on month - but there was a big crash in cars once prviously so they're not immune.
Check out Talacrest who had a record year selling 57 classic Ferrari's last year alone.......

1974 porsche 911rs is the car to own now and one sold in the usa latley for 800,000 dollars
it still ooks like interest rates will stay low for this year at least ,but yes it can become a bubble scenario very easily

I agree however the types of people who lust after an rs500 9 times out of 10 are the average working class and in my opinion the types of people buying them aren't going to have one sat next to a f40 and 250 gto.

I'm sure in the future i'll regret buying it,, and Paul told me several times too

he does have it next to a lot of exotica but no classic exotica. I bet he bought one as a bit of a toy and not as an investment which is what I'm saying.
The thing with classic cars is they seem to go through phases of hype for each marque and there is no way of telling if a certain car will increase of fall in price.
You wont regret it if you invest your money elsewhere and I'm pretty sure if you invested wisely you would see a lot bigger returns than you would buying an rs500

Lol, dont be so sure of that
I found a white rs500 megga low miles 1 owner for a very very wealthy man who had 12 ferraris in his garage , he now has a white rs500 sat right in the middle of that very collection , and he tells me that his rs500 gets more time spent by his visitors on it that any of his collection
I didnt even believe him until he sent me a picture
sadly i was asked by him not to show the picture on the internet as its one of the best pics i have ever seen
Pond for pond an rs500 has percentage wise been a better investment that most exotic cars
Serious wealthy car collectors are now buying into the rs500 dream and that is pushing up prices
rs500s are selling for over 80k , that isnt average working man money now is it
Ps, regards the link above , that is a small part of his collection and he does have sone exotic classic cars

Interesting yeah also a big challenge. 50's Lancias and alfas and going up a lot atm. Being a passenger in a 3 million pound alfa is a scary experience especially when people just tend to pull out and have no idea what your in and the cost of it.

On another note though, how much do people actually think an rs500 will be worth in say 10 20 and 50 years time?
I know there are massive variables so lets say one that's worth 40k now and another at the top end worth 80k?
Do people think that an rs500 will ever be worth 150-200k?

They'll definitely be around in 50 yrs time. Not many sure, but they will. If I live to 84, I'll become a Gold member and I'd be asking 3 houses for one.
There is only so much land, so property will be currency then.
I've been drinking, but I know what I'm on about.

Thing is with classic cars you don't pay inheritance tax on them like a house. So its money in ya pocket. hence why many rich people have collections of cars.
