Default Do you ever just "go out for a drive"?

I like to do this myself, especially at night. Just get in your car and drive around listening to your favorite music, just for the pure pleasure of it. I know this isn't quite what it once was due to today's fuel prices, but I still love doing it.
Does anybody else enjoy doing this?

i used to years ago when i had a cosworth, but i was single with no kids then so burning rubber and fuel was no problem. now i rarely do it as i think of the fuel wastage.

I used to, but not anymore. Two reasons 1) I drive nearly all day, so don't really have the desire to drive when I don't need to, and 2) I live on my own, so where I used to go out for "a drive" when I lived at home to get a bit of peace and quiet, I don't need to do that now the house is all mine.

Yeah, I'm very lucky to have some amazing roads just a short drive from the house.

I do it all the time. I have some great roads near me so it would be a shame not to use them.

As per most of the above I did when I was younger & lived at home so wanted some space but no need now I've got my own place. Plus fuel's got outrageously expensive!

Haven't for a while cause I'm banned :-(
But nothing better than jumping in the car late at night when the roads are quiet and going for a fast B road blast. Used to do the town thing cruising about when I was a young lad but better going out the road for a good blast but then you use the same amount of fuel in half an hour as I used to in a whole night :-(

Yes
Since ive had the SLK ive started going for fun rides again with the sounds up high just love it you can never get over the 1960's music thankfully.
Back in the day I had my son as a companion in my Lotus with Lennon, Hendrix at full chat he still remembers it & the songs great memories.
The Cossie was different it was too noisy for sounds but my son still remembers the fun we had car baiting as he called it. Ive calmed down now but we did some crazy things & reached silly speeds back then.

I'm about 25 minutes drive from foothills of mountains. It's one of the few places the plod don't bother going, well I've never seen them up there. Nice when it's not too damp as it can get a bit skitish on the uneven tarmac. Missing sections of the road in the process .

I used to, but I don't get any fun out of it anymore and I find I get tired really quickly so when I drive say, 100 miles somewhere, I just want to go to sleep when I get there lol.

I don't because I go through enough petrol just to go to the places I need to, but I always forget just how much I really enjoy driving at night, nobody about on the roads, music blaring, average speed about 80mph, and I always say to myself 'I should do this more often'.

I do it some weekends but im a wary driver now since a smash 2 yr ago, years ago you could be a bit naughty late at night and go for a spirited drive country lanes/a roads but theres too many dithering half asleep idiots who just pull out into live traffic or don't check mirrors and before you know it it all ends in tears, and to add salt to the wounds if your the younger lad with the done up or ' boy racer ' car then its deemed automatically your fault..

I dropped the wife off at her works do saturday morning and thought fook it im going for a bit of a drive. I drove to where my favourite night club used to be(Tall trees in Yarm) then went down this little B road that I used to go down a lot when I first started driving. I enjoyed it in the Puma.

Don't have a fun car on the road for this, fiestas are not intimidating enough for road fun.

Be nice though.

I do this all the time in my Westie. Gets the old adrenalin pumping. I have the house to myself most Saturdays so I go off supercar baiting as Rod mentioned above. I should really know better. Last run out was Oct and a chap in an RS6 wanted to play, he lasted about 3 seconds. That's the only thing in the Westie, there isn't really very much that will keep up!

Yeah I still drive for fun, Im only 20 minutes or so from some good roads and countryside. Day or night Im happy to just sod off on me own and try to get lost. I like to go places I havent been so often just eenie meenie at junctions and see where I end up. Problem with doing that for so long is I have to go fecking miles to get lost

Used to all the time, either a blat round some back roads on a Sunday or my brother in law and i would go for a tear up some evenings.

Don't do it now for the same reasons as others fuel, bellends on the road and dibble, i'll add to it though the state of the roads. All the good b roads round here are left to crumble and haven't seen a spot of resurfacing for years. My commute isn't far but its all single carriageway A roads and rammed morning and night with cock-end hypermilers doing 50 in a nsl, soon takes the edge off driving after 5 days of that shit. I can do it in a little over 15mins at 7.30 at the weekends but its 45 through the week.

When i worked in pubs it was nice to open it up on the way home at 12/1 o'clock,

Back in the days of owning the Rst and cosworth i was always out and about especially at night the roads were nice and quiet and i would just go cruising! Not so much these days tbh but maybe next time when i get the new cossie on the road...if that happens!

When i lived in scotland literally 2 seconds from some of the best blasting roads in the UK, id be out for a couple hours a night at least 5 days a week nailing the puma.

Dont do it so much now i live in stoke, a) im on a third the wage so fuel costs are relevant, b) its a good 15 minute drive just to find decent roads without too many cameras or cops and c) get pulled by the fuzz loads even if im not speeding. The pricks these days seem to frown on people nailing it down a roads and b roads and having fun on the corners even when its WITHIN the speed limits.

Biggest concern near you is fucking muntjack! I second guessed overtaking someone between Bainton and Lolham corner, glad i did as one sauntered across in front of them, seconds in it, i could have had a new hood ornament!

Roads from Langtoft, through Stowe, Greatford, Ryhall to Stamford are awesome when its quiet.
