Default How much should i budget for a rolling sapphire cosworth?...

After buying a sierra cosworth, I'm after a whole car missing an engine and gearbox,
Anyone bought one in this state? and how much would you expect to pay?

Depends on condition really, id rather spend a bit extra for a mint shell than throw money at a crap one

I wouldn't say it's that bad, there's far worse on the road lol. Problem is if you're buying it for a reshell it kind of defeats the purpose if you have to weld and paint the donor.

when i bought g88 white saff as a shell i paid Ł2500 ,mint interior with 95% paintwork, and a bit of surface rust at the bottom of passenger arch behind the side skirt .i never even seen it before i bought it lol

if you do go down the shell route ,the more you pay for the shell to start with the cheaper it will end up in the long run imho

true enough but it's the cossie logbook where the value comes. However if I had come across a mint standard shell it wouldn't have bothered me too much.

Exactly, plus you get a lot of your old bits to sell on, it is a fair bit of hassle though.

Exactly what I thought, swapping out and engine is nuts and bolts, easy peasy, spending hours on bodywork, welding, seamsealing, painting etc is far harder and you still end up with a shit welded up saph unless you spend stupid amounts on hard to source new panels.

No brainer for me.

having said that I've spent Ł8/900 on parts this week and remembered another Ł200 i need to spend just to get it moving. The problem with reshelling is you realise how many little things need replacing like clips,trim,nuts/bolts etc and that starts to really add up. but then you do end up with a fully refurbed car that SHOULD last a good few years.
And the prices are still strong, the older and rarer they get also makes it a worthwhile investment IMO.

This is only the trim level.

All the running gear is different, i.e. brakes, suspension etc. By doing a replica you would need this to start with, which will probably work out the same price and it will be just that a replica.

You could say the same about a 3DR shell, which is a high spec base model.

I know of a moonstone 2WD, needs rear arches sorted, I wouldn't say it's mint, depends what youre looking for really.
