Default Timing out??

Automatic tensioner unit snapped , had it replaced n now the car seems too have no guts in it, it is a little jumpy on throttle, is it possible the cam belt has jumped a tooth causing her to run like this?

What car is it ? Did you not check the timing again before you started it ?

Yeh buddy it follows, got the came belt done n was good all running sweet, drive it home n then I herd rattling, so I towed it back to garage n he said the tensioner had gone, got it replaced , he just finished it in the dark lol took it up road n here I am lol, gutless, he is gona look at it in the day tomorow,

His excuse was the tensioner must off pulled the belt round n knock it out as it was slack by an inch!
He said the top 2 looked inline, but as it wa dark he didn't 100% check as they was lined prior to the tensioner going!

Oh that's not good mate. Lets just hope it didn't rattle the valves when the tensioner went otherwise someone is in trouble. Not having a dig but whenever i do timing belts (and that's alot ) i always change it as a kit to rule out this problem.

Engine is very quite and idles lovely just doesn't feel 100% on throttle bit jumpy n not guts.

What would ur profession opionion be pal? Would u say the timing is out?

Does it go right since you had the belt done? - NO

I'm no Einstein but I think I can see the problem.

Did they change the tensioner aswell as the belt or just the belt

I would say the timing is out but once you strip it again make sure 100% its right and before you even start it turn the engine by hand at least a full cycle then line everything back up to make sure its still 100% right. If it all lines up then give that a run up the road to see if its ok

The belt was done before the tension was changed,

Hopefully it gets sorted tomorow' ill keep you updated , once again thankyou for your help guys !

Of it's running ok on idle maybe just a tooth out? Sounds poorly fitted.

to be perfectly honest its very poor workmanship if he's changed the tensioner because its collapsed and never bothered to check the timing because "they was lined up prior to the tensioner going", yeah the belt was also tight before it went as well
if its idling ok and running on 4 its prob not bent any valves, but just jumped a tooth
but bad work either way, i wouldn't realy recommend getting any more work done there

It's a constant head ache mate, took the day off work to drive 78 miles to pic up a new rad n automatic tensioner unit just so she would be running for me to drive, n now u can imagine the stress I have ATM,

The mechanic is getting it srted tomorow if he doesn't he will get a slap and ill take his fez rs off him he nos this.

Just been out in her for he last 2 hours n dam she is a weapon

I'm well pleased she finally fixed!

Result was 2 teeth out by timing , lucky it isn't done any damage to the engine,
Slight bit of vibration every now an again from rear diff hanger as the rubbers r a little worn .

Could do with a nice set up but ill get that done after new mani , front mount n exhaust arrives
