Default Garage security

Touchy subject! I know, but I'm looking to upgrade the security in my garage, it's an older wooden one with twin doors.
Can anybody recommend padlocks- alarmed ones??, alarm-can't wire it to the house so needs to be stand alone. If it wouldn't be to expensive I'd like to look into a smartphone controlled alarm, which texts me if the alarm is tripped.

My cousin has one of these, it is surprisingly effective for a small outlay.

If you google for caravan alarms, these tend to offer SIM/GSM based units that will alert a mobile.

There are other mobile based setups you could go for, but they can be complicated to actually use, as their applications are fairly generic, not dedicated for alarm purposes
