so is this what they call a service shell? i.e. if built up to be a rs500 I presume it won't have the plates/heritage of a genuine one.

someone would probably go that far to buy one just to avoid the usual rust issues.

Ford had lots not long ago, and your point is?? Do they have them now I wonder?? I'm not saying the sellers price is correct but I'd aim high if it was mine.

I'm surprised Fords still had loads not so long ago as I thought they would have all been sold years ago.
My point was that there were a few up for sale not so long ago, after you said try finding another.

Not long ago is a relative term, as time passes it all changes.

it has to be worth that if a ordinary 3dr shell is worth 5k

Could you buy a genuine rs500 shell with build no on its own without engine and stuff?
As the one's that were for sale in the New Forest were just 909 shells with no id apart from the tag stating 909 where normally the tag that holds the paint and trim codes is fitted.

909 is the Motorsport version of the original, so if its a original cosworth shell built or designed as an rs500 it should have its own number as they were only aloud to build a certain quantity

Why stop at a shell? I'd order a water pump from Ford and insist it came with a build no.

This is interesting as I think I have the exact same shell in my garage although not an rs500 (if the shells are different?) it is a 909 shell with sunroof???

The prices for this stuff are all over the place as I still have the original shell which although accident damaged repaired is straight and true???

That's a 3 door Sierra shell with a Cosworth bonnet. It's not an RS 500, it's a spare part.

I've seen a moonstone 3dr down Tremona garage a few times.
Do you know Dave Fry? as he's local to you and has owned a few 3dr's and escos's?

I might know them by sight but the names not ringing a bell.
If it was your moonstone 3dr, she looked spanking mate.
I tried many a time to by Pete's white 3dr who owned Anglesea car stereo, but he would never sell it. Last time I saw it she sounded like a bag of nails where the lads use to move it out of the workshop straight from cold and spin her up around the road!
