I don't think those wheels would suit it if sprayed white? Definitely new wheels needed, like the idea of it going white with black trim/inserts though.

This an speaks sense Steve,do a big build now you have the funds and do it RIGHT first time, maybe not 600 but a solid 500 with similar torque will be great, you have the block to do it all.
You dare go T34 now you've got the funds.
Edited to say,
Your colour scheme idea i like btw

cologne V6
Seriously I wouldn't change the colour just paint whats needed, and whatever you build make it a reliable power, pointless chasing numbers if its only going to last 5000 miles.

Happily retired
Its what you want bud not what others want. Its an old car so dont spend more than you can easily afford. Avoid anything Cosworth its a money pit a decent V8 mildly tuned will give great results.
You need longevity & reliability or we will have pages & pages of crying again .

Alloy block YB, maybe large capacity too, and a power figure starting with a 6.

Thank you
Maybe, maybe a change is due
It already has a proper beam, diff along with a rebuilt gearbox.
Whats wrong with the wheels, everybody keeps saying change them
Im sure 492bhp at the hubs is a genuine 500bhp all day long
Not another for a wheel change
The cam rocks
Nothing wrong with wanting power and good mpg.
Maybe you need to take your own advice as well Rod But you are wise and a V8 has already been thought of for a change.
Maybe a 32v V8 with a supercharger

Late LS* motor and T56 and a squirt of gas for giggles and dyno ponies.
or as said a REAL 550bhp YB
change the wheels and leave the body as-is!
if you change it, you might not like it and regret it once done.................. ever get the feeling of de ja vu????

Well since this is a public forum and you're looking for a suggestion I'd leave the body alone and hike the power right up. I realise being a car enthusiast involves wasting huge amounts of money but colour and engine changes on an XR4i shell to me personally are daft. That's just my opinion, not slating your ideas or anyone else though.
