hi guys quick question for anyone in the know. Does anyone have any idea of the weight of a sierra rs500 or xr4 not looking for and exact weight because obviously both cars will be different. I'm just curious what the weigh of the production line i cant seem to find it on the net i have weights of rally cars ect but nothing of the standard car......

don't hold me to it but seem to remember a cosworth is 1220kg. seem to think i need to lose 220kg in my project to be less than 1000kg. i think an xr4i was a little less (despite the 6 cylinder engine). i can't remember where the figures came from sorry. as a bit of a comparison i know that an xr4x4 with 2.9i fitted was 1290kg. hope this helps.

cheers mate that gives me a rough guide i thought it maybe around the 1200 mark. Im going to take mine to the weigh bridge at my local scrap yard to get an exact weight it will be good to see how much weight has been removed and get a bhp/tonne estimate

car is looking pretty good with you.
be interesting for me to know the new weight. even though i have stripped everything possible a larger engine and cage etc will be putting the weight back up on mine. when i removed the wiring loom for respray was surprised to find the total weight was over 17kg. spent long enough finding good genuine bodykit and bumpers etc and looks like i will go fibreglass as major weight reduction.polycarbonate windows save over 20kg apparently.

one is running over 300bhp with torque a little over 350 lb/ft. will probably end up on standalone management so will increae slightly when done.
i wanted reliability more than anything plus i will be having enough fun with that sort of power. tbh a lot cheaper than going cosworth route. the 2nd is totally standard but not realy decided if both cars will be given t5 engines.

i think it will be possible but extremely difficult. the cage needed puts the weight back up. when you have weighed yours we will have a better idea. i hope it can be done as it is a nice round figure to aim for.

To remove more weight out of my light weight car I'm building I am going to send the cage through the floor and put the mounting points for the rear arms so I can do away with the rear beam , also I may remove a bulk of the inner wings , no dash at all just a digi dash mounted off the cage among other things, as I need to make sure it's under 1000kg
