when, not if

i've put HID kits on my bikes in the past - never again as when you only have one headlight and they fail it's a bit of a disaster

What rating did you get 6000k? 4300k?

Mark, i went for 5000k in the end

All fitted with no issues regarding the hid's. not been out in the car yet to test them properly so will report back once i have.

I also got some led side light bulbs, but they are push in ones, not bayonet so dont fit lol. It looks a bit odd with yellow sides and white dipped so ill get some sides that do fit.

The only other issues i had were the screws holding the front of the light unit in all sheared off when undoing them, even after a blast of wd40... And i think the car has had a light knock as the ball joint part of the o/s lamp was still attached to the socket when i removed the unit, and covered in glue lol.

So i used a **** load of mitremate and activator to glue it back on and it seems ok, but i also for silly reason pushed the lens part of the light when refitting and it went crunch... And is now a bit wobbly, so ill have to take it back out and get the super glue out again....

So, xenons online is the place to get them from. Cant fault the kit all. Took about an hour to fit all in i guess with the messing about

Im guessing its quite tight in your bay?
I'm lucky as I won't need to remove my lights to fit mine. Will be orderinga 6000k kit next week for my Cupra R. Shame about the sides.

I probably could have done it leaving the lights in, but had to cut a 21mm or there abouts hole in the rubber bulb cover so decided to take them out...

Deffo needs white led sides now tho lol

I fitted the 9 SMD LED 501 side lights to my A4, very white and work well with the colour temp of my HID kit. You don't realise how yellow normal lights are until you swap.

Well, upon my drive to work today... it was lightish as the clocks changed lol so cant tell how good they are in the dark yet....

BUT

i did notice tht when i turned on the lights.... the radio reception went to shit

lights off = radio is fine
lights on = radio is poo

there was a H4 3 pin connector that the pins were a bit green on, so ill clean them up to see if it makes any difference...

Mine is the same dan, seems to be quite common with cheap aftermarket hid kits. The cure is supposed to be a couple of ferrite clamps (ebay), clip them on to the cable between the ballast and bulb. I am going to get a pair too to see what happens to my kit.

They are the same things that you might have on your tv or pc power supply cable.

Sorry pal, I just presumed they would be the 501s and not the BA9S sidelights, have a look at your number plate lamps they may fit in there.

As for radio interference, its not HID kit specific its more car vs hid kit. A standard kit may well not interfere with your radio, where as a premium or canbus kit may.

You then take the next car off the production line and that may not have any issues.

Radio interference we don't get alot of trouble with if I'm being totally honest, we have had trouble in the past with Taxi Radios but solved the issue.

Some people on the internet get around the radio interference with error cancellers / filters.

Like so...

http://www.xenonsonline.com/accessor...ancellers.html

As said though its a bit of trial and error.

What car is it?

you dont see it with the bonnet closed lol.

well, its dark a lot now and i guess they are slightly better than the old bulbs, but i wouldnt say they are 300% brighter like the box suggests. or maybe i am expecting too much?

tbh tho i did not dismantle the lenses and try to clean the inner part of the glass so maybe that needs doing? also i have only aligned them on the garage door lol, so again, maybe they need to point up a bit more?

i dont think its an adjustment issue tho

I managed to mount the ballasts under the lamp units, so you cant them. But of course you can see a bit of wiring
