i had 2 alarms fitted to my saph and to my estate
my regular "alarm" with remote locking etc plus one of them clifford key things that had a little dongle, just like most cars nowadays which have a chip in the key to stop you from starting the car
can't remember what it was called but it was only about £140 compared to several hundre £ for the full alarm
this was going back the best part of 15 years ago though so the technology has hopefully improved by now

I had an amobilizer seperate from my alarm with a dongle thingy, but my alarm is switched on by a horible D-lock style key in an ugly metal lift up flap tapped into rear arch!!!
Thought if I'm getting rid of that, will need to plate over hole and repaint, so might as well do the door & boot lock too, unless there's any newer style locks I can get that can't be opened by a soggy Tbag????

I had this on a BMW 335i was really a pointless thing and never felt that confident the car was locked it's an extra that's just not needed ( unless you always walk around in a bikini and don't have a pocket for your car keys!)
