Liners don't go easy at all, only from crap maps or cars over 300bhp. And unwell maintained cars. Look for the same as what you do for any car your buying!

Thats correct if you datalog the me9 ecu with the crappy plug in upgrade maps there very aggressive in the fact there to lean and to much ignition where the torque limiters lifted ect to much then the knock sensors are constantly trying to cope with det and then the high cylinder pressures So this why i say get either scc or msd to map the car properly rather than a poor generic map

Things to look out for are misfire on startup, White smoke from the tailpipes, pressurising of the cooling system etc. Pretty much the same symptoms as head gasket failure.
Other things that can go wrong is alternator failure, ABS/ESP module failure, cracked seat bases, boost control solenoids, MAP sensors, MAF sensors, some had issues with power steering pipes leaking (Ford recall), oil filter housing diaphragms and probably a couple of other things I can't think of!!
Just do all the checks as you would normally and keep your fingers and toes crossed!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
The liners can go even on a well maintained standard car. The problem is down to the size of the gap between the cylinders. Cars before mid 09 had a very narrow gap and the later blocks this was made wider to aid water flow. But I can't say I've heard of any later cars suffering from broken liners. Apparently some people are fitting shims between the cylinders as a block mod along with a deck plate to try and eliminate the liners from cracking.

I thought it was the other way round, the earlier cars had a larger water channel?

Liners can go on ANY car maintained or not, mapped or standard.
There are a number of tuners offering "block mods" Dream science.Puma Build,Jamsport and one or two others aswell.
Your looking at Ł750+ depending on what you have done as most of the companies i mentioned only to do the block mod with shims or dowels, but Dream science do different stages of modification reaching upwards of Ł1500
My car will be going to someone realatively local who works on these engines day in day out and has been doing block mod on volvo engines for years.
