Default Stange 3 door temperature issue.

Basically i checked my coolent level on saturday morning before FordFair and the level was no where near where it should be so topped it up to half way up header tank (a.s stainless one). Drove all the way to ff no issues.

Got up this morning and drove rest of way and the temperature gauge crept up further than usual! Fans cut in in traffic and stayed on until i got on club stand.

Came home and temperature gauge was sitting lower than usual. All of a sudden it went up and stayed up. I believe the fans stayed on for the last 60 mile or so of my journey and if it hadnt of been for my speed the car would have overheated. Got home and left car on to open garage etc and it was just about to creep into the red, with the fans still on. Any ideas what this could be?

Air lock?
Lack of coolent?

Ps the header tank was not very hot to touch when i arrived back home and i remember it being really hot i the past. I know i shouldnt of but i opened it and there was no coolent in it at all. I have no obvious leaks

Cheers.

As said possibly HG, the mayo is not conclusive though, as it whereabouts it has blown (Assuming you don't have a leak)

Well yes lack of coolant is the issue, I bet if you check again you will find the level has dropped again.

Another problem that the 2WD's suffer with is that the head can crack!
