Mk2 escort radtech question
Hi people, I've just brought an airtech rad/intercooler setup for my cossie engined mk2 escort, I know some people don't like them and prefer the pro alloy ones but it was £500 cheaper so I thought I'd try it, anyway I've just got it out of the box and this might sound like a stupid question but how do you fill the rad with coolant, when I ordered it I assumed that I would have to fit a separate header tank but there is no provision for a pipe, all the rad has is where the top and bottom hose go's, I can't ring burtons untill the morning so if anyone has had any experience with these please let me know,
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Sorry I can't seem to upload any pics at the moment,
The rad looks similar to a sierra rad as in that it needs a separate header tank, I'm thinking that airtec forgot to weld in an inlet for it, how else are you ment to fill it and check on the level.

Non of the YB cosworth rads have caps, the YB cosworth cars have a separate header tank which connects to the engine. Your rad is designed for the engine you have.

Arrh, that makes sense, so I do need a separate header tank but instead of it filling the rad directly, it connects to engine, thanks guys ill have to have a look on a sierra to see where to run the pipe to.
There had to be an explanation, thanks again

As James has said, you need to run a header tank with the Cosworth conversion on a Mk.2 unless the radiator is higher than the engine and then it will have a radiator cap....like the Radtec set up.
It's basically a sierra Cosworth set up you have, not a Mk.2 escort

I've been looking for hours and can't find a cooling system diagram of a standard 2wd sierra, can anybody tell me where the header tank pipe links in,
Thanks in advance
