They are rare but this one is as rare as fuck as its the German import hence it being a LHD and called a lotus omega instead of Carlton still pushing 380bhp though

Had a tangle with one of these when I was 19. He passed me like I was stationary while I was well into 3 figures.

One of my favourite cars I'd love one is it hard to get parts for them?

I'm sure that was one of the buying guide check things , as they are mega costly to replace.

What a car, but isn't it quite highly strung from the factory (and therefore pretty fragile if you try tuning them further?) still a cool car mind.

I saw one at Kimbolton a couple of weeks ago. My best sighting was 10 Carltons and an Omega at the VBOA show at Billing a few years back. One Carlton was silver and one was fully Union Jacked. Awesome cars!

Love these cars! My uncle had one when I was younger, felt very quick.

They were 377bhp, 419lb ft of torque and did 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds. 50-70 was 2.8 seconds and they did 176mph in sixth gear at 4000rpm. I used to be a geek when it came to these cars!

Tuning was best left alone, though there are a few (as above) that have been played with. Headgaskets are weak and at one point brakes and headgasket parts wre very hard and very expensive to get hold of.

They had problems with the clutch release and bellhousing cracking but these are known issues now and parts are easier to find.

They actually haven't shot up in price as high as you would think they have and there always seems to be a fair few for sale.

Brakes were AP Racing 4-pots with 13-inch discs from memory!

I remember in the early 90's my old neighbour had a RS500 in Moonstone. It got stolen and burnt out.

He then bought a Lotus Carlton, must of only been 25-26 at the time.

Was a monster of a a car! When he sold it the price was Ł19000 around 1995 I think
