Does the fan switch on and work normally (to cool engine)?

can you hear the pump engage when the a/c button is pressed? lots of a/c systems will not engage the pump if low on fluid!

It should do yes, as said I bet it's low on gas, hence the compressor is not actually running, you should be able to 'feel' it on the engine, as well as the air obviously, when it is working.

Sounds like it needs a re-gas. The fan on my focus runs quite slowly with the A/C on so you can barely hear it, the fan on my mk3 mondeo sounds like a 747 taking off though lol

Sounds like it might be overheating then, the temperature gauge on the dash should never read over half way. Fans can sieze or get things stuck in them, check it can actually rotate by spinning it (with the engine off obviously).

ok, Fiesta Turbo running hot? I need some questions answered to give you a meaningful answer!

does the fan ever come on?

how does it run if only doing between 60 an 70 down the motorway late at night or very early morning?

Is is running standard (130bhp),has it has a t3 conversion?

They do run a little hot as standard, it is a big engine for the size of under bonnet space! and it is turbocharged!

Also has the cooling system been looked at in the last 5 years ?

Hey, it runs alright on the motor way, sitting about mid temp on gauge, I am lead to believe its standard bhp, (the bloke I brought of wasn't that helpful)

I have changed the cooling fluid n looks alright, no cracks or leaks. Just mainly when sitting in traffic of town driving it gets hotter..

You need to answer the above, i.e. does the fan run? If not then this will be causing the problem you describe here.

OP, when you say you had it idling, was that from a cold start?

Check what has been said as well as the fan fuse, but back to the original question you will know if the A/C is working or not, regardless of the fan?

It will obviously get hotter in traffic, due to no air airflow, but then the fan should cool this down, which is probably is doing to a degree (pardon the pun)?

Maybe an uprated fan would help, but as long as it's not actually overheating.

ok, I may sound stupid (but please remember I'm new to this.. hehe) the fan is at the front of the car, in front of the inner cooler. As I have been looking around on other models, the inner cooler is at the front with fan behind. Will this make much of a difference...

really appreciate all and any help...

on fiesta's there is a know problem with the fan! you need to check the relay and the fuse! the normal givaway for this problem is that the reverse light doesn't work either!

The relay in question is the GREEN one!

I have used water wetter and found that helps (makes the cooling system more efficient).

Also check the thermostat is working properly, and it is the correct one.

My toy is a bit over cooled now! so I don't normally have to worry about that anymore!
