Default Mongoose exhaust noise

Does anyone know how the two types of Mongoose exhausts compare to each other with the noise they make?

I currently have this one fitted:

But the noise on longer runs is driving me crazy. So I was wondering how much noise this one would make. Does anyone have experience with both types?

Hi Marc,Is the centre section still in your current exhaust you have now?

Only asking as i have the same system on my Sapph and I've done 230 miles today and it's not loud in car at all.

Yes the centre section is still there. It is exactly how Mongoose supplies them. I find there is a very annoying hum when you're constantly doing around 70 to 75 mph.

I too find mine loud which is why i've never gone down the route of removing the centre box - when i arrive at any car show it takes my ear's about an hour to sort them selves out

The OE copy one is based on the old magnex systems so it should be quite a bit quieter. I love one but it won't fit with a 6 degree beam

Do you not have to cut and reweld to make it fit?

Yep you do, the boxes move forward and fill the gap 40 odd mm and the hangers need sorting but nowt hard and worth the effort.

Me

I have the OE style system on my 3dr and my mate had the first one on his RS500. His car was a lot louder then mine. We both preffered the OE style system in terms of noise

I never would have guessed but the noise of my mongoose system annoys me too on long trips. the second one seems quiter but how much power is possible cause it seems like the genuine exhaust.....

I don't think the OE style holds the engine back on power. But someone must have some experience with that?
