Default £650 on a car. Recommendations?

As the title states. I'm after something in this price range (preferably a ford) to use as a daily drive. Had a look around for the past few days but nothing is jumping out at me.

i know it isn't a lot but it's all i have to work with for now. Any thoughts from you guys would be much appreciated. Cheers

some of the cars you listed above mark would break for 2 or 3 times the asking price

I'd go for a mk5 Fiesta with the 1.25 Zetec engine, get a good one and they are brilliant little cars.

Id go for the 328i touring above if you don't need it to be super economical. Mine has nearly 190,000 miles on it and drives really well, well enough that I can't muster the courage to sell it. Handles well enough and has a decent shape/size boot but not nearly as big as a mondeo estate etc.

Years ago when I really needed a cheap car fast I bought/inherited a mk3 1.8 mondeo estate. It was bloody excellent!!! huge boot, drove really well and was very comfortable did a touch over 40mpg on a run and was generally a joy to drive if you aren't overly image concious.

I'd go for a mondeo st200 and have more car for my money, normally in that price range they need rear arches but that ain't going to stop you using it

I wouldnt go for a scrubber i would go for something that £650 allows you to buy a decent one.

Many will laugh but a saxo 1.4 furio or 1.6 VTR would be a good shout.
50mpg, VTRs are quick and £650 will buy you a FSH 70K good example.

Also forgot to say a mk6 escort zetec. Had a 1.8 GTi for 3 years, was a good car that

In your position, if £650 is your max budget, I'd be looking at £500 motors and saving £150 to fix the first thing or two that will inevitabley be wrong with it..

what sort of car do you needed, big small, commuter, round town, family car or shopping trolley??

Small car - fiesta, big car, personally I would look at the bigger engined petrol lumps that nobody want, full loaded and will do the miles.

Look at cars for around £1k and haggle them down, something with a long mot on is a must.

An E30 for £650 would be similar structually to a cullinder.

Mk4/5 1.25 Fiesta would be my bet, nippy for what they are.

Id say a focus or puma.

Just got a puma for a run around, 12 months mot £400.

Good on fuel if driven properly. Reliable, and surprisingly nippy.

Upset a few bigger cars already that have tried it on

Been trying to look for a 5dr 1.8gti but can't seem to find any which are reasonable. Any make will do it's just i love fords and have missed driving one since the XR2I/RS turbo ownership days.

It will be used as a daily commute for work 30miles and driving around on weekends with 1 child and another due shortly. Did have my eye on a few zetec-s fiestas not far from me but 1 seller hasn't bothered to reply and the other sold for double of what i can afford.

Thanks for all the replies so far guys and keep them coming, i appreciate it

Thanks again for all the responses guys

Looks like i may have sorted out a 5dr v reg diesel focus for £500 with a years mot and a few months tax. Full leather/MP3 alloys etc. Pretty chuffed with it as it drives pretty well and has 130k on the clock.
