Progressive Scan on DVD players
Hopefully there are some Home Theatre buffs on here
I've got a Kiss DP1000 player that supports progressive scan and my TV is a Philips PW9509.
I've bought a snazzy looking cable with three phono type connections at one end (red, blue and green) and a SCART at the other.
If I then set the output from the DVD to composite/progressive I get a blank screen and have to reset to be able to see the menu again.
Any ideas?
TIA

Er, not sure your tv is able to take progressive scan, this is usually reserved to plasma screens and projectors iirc.
Looks like the cable you have is an RGB cable, try setting the DVD player to output RGB on the scart output, and plug the scart connector into an RGB capable socket on the TV.
That will give you just about the best connection you can get on a tv.
I'll look up your TV model in the mean time, I could be talking total utter b****shit.

Ok, just looked at a couple of reviews (www.homecinemachoice.com).
One says: "What we don't like about this TV: No Component Inputs".
But two of the three SCARTs are RGB compatible.
Another says: "Despite the inclusion of three Scarts (two RGB) and an S-video input, the lack of component input is a real shame and means that you can’t enjoy the benefits of high-definition or progressive scan pictures."
It doesn't look like you can use the component output from your DVD player then

Hi frog,
I thought the TV did support progressive scan but it loks like I may have been mis led by some advertising blurb (it's not listed as prog scan on Philips' website).
I thought I'd checked the Philip's website too!
I'm just going to do what you've suggested above.
Thanks

20K+ Super Poster.
also, with your DP1000 make sure you update the firmware on it! the stuff it ships with is well out of date, and is very buggy with divX etc.
you can get it from the kiss website
