a mate of mine has just brought a new clutch kit for 16v nova, the problem is that on the friction plate there are 4 springs, normally each spring has a smaller spring inside it, well 3 do and 1 doesn't

Surely this would unbalance the clutch?

people on Mig are a bit slow to reply and I know there are a fair few more people on here that are clued up about these things.

some of the clutches are different like that, I have one in my garage like his one but it does have 4 big springs and 4 smaller ones in the inside

strange really, it has been said that the weight could be balanced through the other 3 speings but I reckon thats unlikely

i had a spring snap in the clutch on my fiesta had to drive it to get it home stripped 1st, 2nd and reverse had to have gearbox rebuillt

When i took the clutch out of my fiesta two of the springs were snapped!

Anyways i would say that isn't right, try asking the company you got the clutch from.
