I have been looking at these recently and quite fancy one....
Theres a lovely ST for sale on here with a 300bhp upgrade is it that easy to upgrade them??
If you had a choice what would be your choice and why??

If you are around Enfield/Tottenham way at any point, I'll give you a spin in mine. About 280ish bhp. Was in exactly the same dilemma and went for the ST. Not regretted one iota. Reasons being ST is the more modern car, more comfortable, had a MK1 Focus before fancied a "change" as an RS would've been for me almost the same car with a better engine and chassis and 5 pot sounds epic. Also lot more toys and gadgets in the ST and not what I bought it for but still a plus is that I've lost count of the amount of times I've been spoken to in traffic complimenting how mint it looks, the noise it makes and also one bloke last night as a matter and fact stopped and asked me what colour it was as he was fascinated by it (Electric White which is white with a blue pearl). Best motor I've ever bought.
There will be those that say it's not an RS and they ain't quick and lardy etc but what I want it for it is absolutely spot on so ultimately boils down to what you want. Check my thread out on it for pics.

my mate has a 60 plate 320bhp asbo st the things epic, I love it such a nice drive aswell, the mk1 rs is cool though but I tend to agree better off as a weekend toy I think as they are getting rare and older now,

I thought about both but decided on the ST as it is a newer car, more toys, more comfortable and I have had a couple of mk1 focus's. Don't know why, but the RS's seem to rust more than any other mk1 focus. You see some have already had full resto's carried out on them and they are only 10 years old.
Pretty easy to get 300 bhp / 350 lbft from them with only breathing mods and a map. Apart from a few self inflicted issues, mine has been faultless! It's got every thing you really need too, touch screen sat nav, bluetooth phone, dual climate, auto xenons and wipers etc etc. I am currently averaging 30mpg with tootling about.

I used my rs daily for 5 years, retired to garage recently when little one came along so got a 5 series run around. They are fine everyday but they are harsher and noisier than an st
The xr3i rs turbo comparison isn't fair....thé xr3 i was always a crap car
