Default Please read(now with the pm included)

Hi all, this will test the Pf freedom of speach policies a bit. I recently got a cheap Sapphire cosworth with a view to taking some bits of that me and my mate wanted and selling the rest on here, which I thought as a "Gold Member" I could do,
Oh no, cos yesterday my "2wd Sapphire parts bonanza" thread was removed and a pm(which stands for Private Message, which is what it will stay, as I don't wanna name the mod involved) sent to me saying a trader had complained that I was a "Trader", hence the post was taken off, no enquiry or owt, just off it comes.
Now, I know the parts were cheap, and I may of been undercutting this trader involved, but I am not a trader, I have a garden that has a mk2 Escort in my garage, a Sapphire cossy next to it, and my Fiesta rally car,I have sold some of the bits on here, for very cheap prices(I am not greedy, just want to break even on the Sapphire, I've evn offered some bits to Pf people from my local branch for free)and I can't see why my pm's back to the Mod in question have been left unanswered.(I did get a message back saying "just doing my job)
I appreciate the Mods do have a job to do, that is keeping people happy, and I also agree that traders who pay there money should have a voice, but really, should my remaining parts of been taken off? and am I allowed to put what's left on here now?
Finally, would the trader who complained care to own up as to why me and my Sapphire in my garden are a threat to, what I appreciate, is ther livliehoods.
I don't want to get banned as I enjoy Pf alot, but please, can I just break my car,I have no plans in the future to break any other cars.
I await to see other views on this, I may be wrong, but surely I've done nothing wrong here.
Thankyou,
Andy

personally I think this is bollox, you paid gold membership, you can advertize what the fook you like , the trader involved should stop being such a money grabbing leach, there will ALWAYS be people selling bits off their cars, you can't expet people to pay trade fees for selling a few bits, and if you scared of the competition then you need a serious look at what your buisness is based on, and again mods I know you got a hard job to do , but that IMHO is very unfair and baised and andys post should be re-instated. All IMHO of course

your not making a living from it so what's the harm.

If it was to become a habit then you should pay.

The thread should be returned, it's only keeping parts from the rest of us.

Please bear in mind though Lads, tbh, there are 2 sides to every story, so there may be a defence to this.

I may have misunderstood the rules, but I always thought that if you were a gold member, you could list parts for sale in the appropriate category and would not have a problem

I also remember reading a pretty well-thought-out and worded post written by one of the traders in the community saying that the prices that they were getting for certain parts were being driven downward because of situations similar to this one.

So what's right.......I dunno

I've broken a car similar to my rally car (on my side of the pond) and made enough to cover my investment (I bought a wrecked car for rally spares) and made a few (very few) $$$ on top of that.

I don't know what the difference in fees is from gold member to trader, but it may be worth putting up the extra dosh just to keep the peace. OTOH, I'd think that it was ok to break 1 or 2 cars/year on a private basis.....

This is why Stu and Pet get paid the big bucks....to sort out stuff like this. Better them than me.

if i needed bits for my car, engine, gox etc......

i would buy a car and sell the rest of the bits on here hopefully.

i think the word 'TRADER' needs to be outlined as to what a trader is.

Plenty of peeps breaking their cars on here now as its the only way to sell them and get good money on them.

i have nothing to do with the rules andy mate hell i aint even a mod lol just telling you what i read in the past and rwdcoswill not worth the argument mate wont change nothing traders pay alot of money to be a trader and i used to think that if you payed gold membership you could sell things but that aint true either realy i agree most of its bollox but not worth the argument as you will get told that your payin gold membership to help support the site not to sell things

Although defining someone as a "trader" is a bit of a grey area, imvho if the situation is as andyescos has described, then it strikes me as quite unfair that he's been put in this situation.

Maybe now is a good time for Stu to get his thinking cap on about how this can be avoided in future?

As a footnote, ebay's definitely the way to go

hard dun by i would say ,you aint a trader and if you bought a car (for whatever reason )and then decided it is surpluss to requirements, why the hell shouldnt you sell the parts on here.
wonder if this has any thing to do with the post last week from the traders saying that cars are harder to come by and prices must go up partly because people have cottond on to the fact with a little time and effort they can make more money breaking there own cars than selling on
why should the mod take what a trader is saying as 100% true and not belive your side of the story
there are 2 sides to every story
forget that mate wrong is wrong, you aint a trader so why cant you sell

Am I allowed to sell parts that I have left (engine, wheels, intercooler, shell, interior, samcos and stainless rad) individually? I'm sure these parts aren't gonna make a Trader "go under"?(Oh, and before you ask, this post isn't an advert)

I don't think you're a trader.

I also understand that Pf has to be financed too, and this is probably done by Traders membership costing more than my £20, but does this give them a bigger voice than me?
The way I feel at the mo, I wouldn't be surprised if this post gets removed or I get banned, I thought Pf was for us, and not so little Nazi's can do what they want with peoples views, simple as that, if that upsets ya then sorry, but that's how I feel about this.

Not doing whay they want, they were asked by the trader and that was his/her/Stu's/Pet's decision.

right or wrong,it's up to the person who made the decision to give his/her reason as to why he/she has decided to call you a trader.

Until we get to hear "the other side of the story" I'm with Andy, I don't see why people can't sell surplus parts.. Maybe the definition of "Trader" needs to be clarified?

isnt it a case of the 'traders' paying more than gold members to PF thus having more influence on what is on PF?

IMO

If someone wants to break a one off car, which could easliy be there own pride and joy, why not do it? And in this case has parts that are surplus to requirements.

If however they are putting a car a month on here and actively seeking parts from here to sell on at a higher price, then class them as a trader.

Are there any clearly defined rules for what is a trader and someone breaking one car?

Well worded first post Andy

Just cos they are paying more this does not mean that they get preferencial treatment.

See it from the traders point.

they are paying to advertise in here and they have a right to complain, just as Andy is doing now.

Just that they done it by P.M.

Really surprised no mods have answered yet.

I agree with you andy on this. To me trader is a person who is vat registered and has a business bank acount who sells cars or breaks them for a living. If andy was breaking multiple motors every week or month regardless of whether he makes a profit or not then his post should be delted as it is evident he is making regular income from this.

Andy you work as a firefighter do you not? If so this is your main source of income is it not?

What a joke

You paid your £20 so advertise whatever you like , its not as if your breaking a car every couple of weeks FFS

Its like what Petes post was going on about the other day and " Bedroom Traders "

At the end of the day the customer wants the cheapest deal he can get whether that be from a so called " Bedroom Trader " or other .

Since when was there a monopoly on who could/couldnt sell parts

I know this is probably not the opinion that should be expected from a mod, but i've also had PMs/emails from people acting like f*cking babies, spitting their dummies out and causing unecessary grief for the sake of it. But I think I deserve to write a sensible post for once.

I personally couldn't give a monkeys what you advertise and know you're not a trader, but the mods are just doing as they're asked, myself included with the shell that was in cars for sale.

You should feel honoured out of ALL the stuff sold on here, thatyou were seen as a threat to someone's "business".

Let me put this to the whole forum, rather than just traders and mods. Along the same lines as Andys problem with a Trader, when I see someone has taken a car in part exchange on a more expensive car, say an RST chopped in on a cosworth; and they're advertising the car on here, do I delete it? because they only took that car with the specific purpose of selling on?

Or do I make a grown-up judgement that they're using a forum they enjoy, to help sell something related to their hobby, take a deep breath and get on with life?

I've sold ONE £700 car through this site which is fair enough I'm not selling stuff suitable for the audience anymore, but in real terms the Trader fee's are bugger all and even one sale paid for itself. Alright, banner fee's may seem high to those that don't advertise on a great scale, but again, in real terms they're stupidly cheap considering the targeted audience.

So Andy, if worse comes to worst, I might start a new trading sideline and act as an "agent" for you to sell whatever's left over from the broken cossie that you don't get top dollar for on ebay

Yep, I'm a full time Firefighter, who in the last year has sold the following on Pf (to the best of my knowledge)
My RS turbo
an exhaust to Turbo kid above
Pugos shox
some 17" wheels of my rst
ST170 brake fittings (that I gave away)
an old XR2 I used as daily transport about a year ago
some springs for an rst (again , off my old car)
and ref trailering cars, I've only ever moved 4!

No, The parts I'm selling tomorrow are all going for what I paid for them, I'm not making anything on them, remember now, this is legal, so I wouldn't remove it if I was you.

I dont understand it, All gold members pay to keep this board running, one of the parts we pay for is the right to view/access and sell parts on here,

So can i decide that i dont agree with some traders items and get posts removed? i dont think so, you pay your money you should be allowed to sell what you want, if you sold cossie after cossie and blatently took the piss i can understand it, but this is a joke and IMO well out of order. Of course you can undercut a trader, you bought the saff for bits you wanted so when selling all you need to do is sell at a price which
a) gets rid of stuff quickly as your not trading so holding stock is a waste of space and time
b) sell it cheap enuff to break even cos you dont have overheads/staff to pay, tis basic economies of scale aint it

hope you get it sorted as it leaves a bad taste imo

If hes paid the £20 for Gold membership aloowing him advertising rights then what right has a mod got to delete the thread whether that be a car for sale or parts for sale

Andy i agree with everything you say it`s a load of bolloxs i even asked how much it would cost to break a one off car as i got offered of saff cos for £1500 and may of broke it but no one could give me an answer????

So what you meant to do??

IMO the traders don`t like anyone else makeing a buck out of breaking the odd car
so they will moan to the mods and get them removed

Have a look at this topic https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...756&highlight=
