Oooooh - just got in and read this!
What a storm in a teacup!
Simple solution is as follows:
Andy - email me a list of the parts that you have left and consider them bought off you by me.
I will then sell them on PassionFord as a gold member at no profit.
Why? Becuase it's nobody else's fookin business where I get my parts from!
You're telling me that I go out and buy a saff cossie because I need the engine and box for a kitcar project, but I can't sell the rest of the broken vehicle on here because I might be classed as a trader.
Get some fuckin common sense people
A trader can't be determined by where they get their parts for sale - just on the regularity that they are selling parts

Something like this will be the downfall of this site, I have not read about such a stupid situation in a long time!
Some traders are like a fooking mothers knitting group the amount of bitching that goes on behind peoples backs!
Look at the facts, Andy has done nothing wrong here. If the trader really felt so strongly they can always complain/inform the relevant authorities. But no, they just want to have a whinge as someone is cheaper than them on this site! Deleting contributing Gold Member adverts such as this is not only irritating to the very people who help keep this site running but it also reduces the number of parts for sale on the site making it less usefull to those wishing to buy as well.
I don't believe for one second it has the slightest to do with covering Stu/PassionFords back for assisting illegal trading. No other website does this and there can always be disclaimers to cover themselves.

Good grief Charlie Brown, what a load of twaddle!
Only new here, but can tell Andy is one top individual from his posts and the couple of PM's I have traded.
I wont be able to make major use of the "for sale" side of PF until I am back in the UK - BUT if the decision is that Andy (and others) can not as a gold member make reasonable use of the forum as an indivudual - then I will exercise my right to not buy from the traders
If you dont like Labour, then dont vote for them.....

WTF ???
just got home from work and read all this
makes me feel gutted that PF has come to this reminds me VERY much of the RSOC BB before it went tits up
Andy isn't a trader, he has'nt done anything wrong as far as i can see. if its going this way, it may as well just FULLY PAID TRADERS ONLY for ANY for sale item.
as much as i hate to say it, its just kind of thing which will eventually make PF go down the pan.
dont think i will be re-newing my gold membership as IMO it now offers nothing
without ORDINARY people breaking the odd car, there wouldnt be much choice of spare parts
https://passionford.com/forum/search.php?mode=results
type in BREAKING in the search options and then COSWORTH PARTS FOR SALE and see how many NON TRADERS are breaking cars and there are no problems with these people
pathetic

Andy, sell me all the bits you left and as Im a PF Trader Ill sell the bits for you at your cheap prices!! I cant see that every single item every trader sells on here gets VAT added (generating higher prices) and goes through company books etc....
Just read the whole 7 pages and what a load of old bollox. I had a pm the other day from a mod asking not to put a friends car up for sale. Not sure if he had noticed but that thread was putting up fookin donkeys ago before all this shit had arisen. I should've re-phrased it I suppose saying ive bought it to sell on for a profit beign a trader an all!

The fact you were posting for a mate and I sent you a link to the new rules was an afterthought, don't take it personally
I know Andy and I know he's not a trader.
Sure, he likes dressing up as Gandalf which is a bit weird, but I personally couldn't give a f*ck what anyone posts up for sale.

But surely if the mods have sided with the trader in this instance, that rule must apply for everybody? Or are we saying that it's okay to buy and break a car without trader status as long as no-one complains?
As far as I can see there has been almost full support for andy's view...listen to your members Stu!!

The way I see all this, is that if andy had not said, I am getting this car and will be selling bits off it, no one would have been none the wiser, so he gets it for being honest about it all
So I am allowed (as a gold member) to sell up to four cars a year, is there a duration I have to have owned the car before I can put it up for sale ? I can't see one So, if I buy and car and sell it two weeks later at a profit because I bought a bargain, does that make me a trader ? Would I be breaking the rules that say I can sell four cars a year ?
If traders are not happy about general folks being able to sell on PF, parts will appear on eBay instead - result, nobody's any better off...
Now, here's a suggestion... All I've seen so far is stu this and stu that, I am sure he's open to suggestions, from all, not just traders or gold members, so rather than rant, offer useful options that can be taken forward
IMO anyone should have the option of "buying" additional exposure on PF, trader or not, you want a larger animated signature - that's an extra £10 a year, you want a banner advert, that's £200 a year.
If you sell things on a regular basis, you'll want the exposure and pay for the privilege (as traders do). More exposure = more sales hopefully.
In order to ensure that sellers are "propper", how about a ranking system like eBay's ? The more you sell, and the better you do it, the more likely peeps will come to you, the crap ones will soon disappear off the face of PF.
Can't remember who asked about selling a load of parts stashed in his dads garage, but he'd have to setup a business to be able to sell here, remember, stu will only accept business cheques for traders, fair enough, but for someone to get rid of a load of bits in the garage, they have to go and setup a bank account, etc... don't think that's going to happen somehow...
Traders were initially setup as a way to generate an up front fund for PF, they pay a reasonable amount of money and can be expected to do so every year thus ensuring a reliable source of income for the web site, however, how many paid up gold members are there ? Surely these won't dry up over night. Surely, these contributions are now enough for PF to run, membership could increase to £25 to make up for the difference, I'd still pay, and so would a whole load of others too I am sure.
By being too "commercial", PF will alienate the traders and the members alike, traders because they have "unfair" competition (there was eBay, can't see them having a go at eBay for letting joe bloggs sell on there), members because they can't sell anything on here without being lambasted by traders.
IMO, the rules are too too woolly to make proper sense, too much left to interpretation, make it simpler and the winging will stop

So, has Andy's for sale advert been re-instated yet?
Andy, ring up the tax man and tell them what you are doing (Buying a car at retail price because you need some parts from it, then privately selling on what you don't need) and see if they want you to declare this. If they do then you are a trader if not then your ad should be re-instated IMHO
There have been some good comments on this thread (frog and PON to name but a few) can the powers that be please take note of these and not just moan and ask natter on about locking the thread!
