Hi folks, just thought i'd introduce myself as i've recently registered after lurking for a while....
My name is Scott and I live in Hampshire. I used to be heavily into MKII Escorts back in the early 90's and had 2 rally prepped RS2000's (not at the same time, that'd be greedy!!!) which used to see forest action from time to time. I left Fords after about a decade of ownership to pursue other things.
For the last 7ish years I moved over to the jap scene and have been running a Skyline R32 GTR which I'm now in the process of turning into a trackday/competitive sprinting car. This has been a labour of love as I promosed myself back in 89 when the R32's were released that I would have one one day!!!
Im very active on GTROC forum and my build thread is HERE if anyone wants to see what I've been doing...
Thankfully I used to be a mechanic many moons ago so am able to do all of the work myself. Only time the car visits a specialist is for mapping which i leave to the experts!!!
So why I am I on Passionford??? Well, with the GTR nearing completion and as someone who is always tinkering, I decided that I need another project to keep me going. The plan at the moment (subject to change
) is to build up a decent spec YB from bits and pieces i can source on forums/ebay etc. I COULD go and buy a fully built, ready to run engine but I enjoy building engines and have put together more Pinto's than I have had hot dinners!!! Yes, the YB head is different to what I'm used to but Im sure I'll cope. Eventual aim is to buy a good Gp4 Escort shell to put it in for purposes yet undecided....
So there we go....been looking on the net doing some groundwork and research into the different YB spec's and hunting out and bookmarking loads of different Cosworth specialists. Some from my MKII days are still around but a lot of others seem to have bitten the dust unfortunately.
I'll be doing my research but im sure will have questions that you learned folks can help me with. Be gentle though as its been a while since I've dabbled with things Ford!,
TT
