Default YB 205 Block ???

Hi lads I'm after a bit of help iv got problems with my 3dr Cosworth YB motor and its got to come out . So wot I'm thinking of doing is starting work on a second hand block witch is on standerd size which is a plus but there is a but with it this replacement block has been wire rung . Wot I'm asking for help is do I use the wire rings and use a standerd head gasket or do I just forget the ring and fit a standerd head gasket . Or do I have the block decked till the rings are gone so I can use a multi layer gasket and flash the tops of the pistons which is not a problem . I need this to be good for 400BHP thanks for your time

Wire ring it and use a small turbo head gasket

Multi later requires head and block to be perfect = more expense

Oh and std head bolts too

my last saph was built by a previous employee of nms, the car ran proper rs500 t4 at 2.2 bar 480 hp and all it had was a multi layer head gasket and standard head bolts and i never had any headgasket issues.

Mat another thing to consider and also check are the head bolt length. as heads are skimmed the bolts go into the block deeper the rear 2 its not a problem but if any of the others bottom out it will crack the block on number 2 exhaust side as thats a weak point of the 2wd block. and the gasket wont be clamped correctly hence why theres a lot of issues with failing gaskets.

Hope this helps

Regards

Paul
