Default T38/55-or-t38/63

Evening all
ive got nms 500 spec engine in my 3dr ive run it in on t35/55ex housing with 55siemens injectors for 2000miles spoke to karl about upgradeing the turbo today,he asked what i want from the it,as it is, it spools up very quick,he sugests to keep that type of low lag send my 55ex housing to cr turbos and have a t38 made he says itll make about 420-430,or go straight to t4
any one running t38/55 with 750siemens injectors and what power you getting
im just curious of what others are making

im looking at t38 options because it seems a less costly way to achieve m ore power than gt options.....

I had the UT T38 on my Saff and tbh I didn't like it at all, I know Steve aka cossie4i had a TT version which he was very impressed with.

I'm sure Karl will give his advice etc on your Spec you require, seems a shame not to make use of your engine a bit more tough

yes he told me ive 2 roads to go down, the most usable one was the .55 t38 cr one does seem a shame to down spec the motor but i do have another escos project to finish which is again karls 550 spec motor with a t4 to his spec,so not wanting to go too crazy on finances, with the 3dr just get more than the t35 offers,in the same breath dont want to sell myself short..if you know what i mean...

it is utter madness.
heres one, t3 flange open scroll as long as it will clear it should bolt straight upto a stock yb manifold, internal gate aswell so would just need downpipe adapting, oil and water lines and thats it.

i can see no reason not to go for it, i would no question as having a roller bearing t38 made will be just as expensive anyways. its not 1992 anymore

But on the other hand why re invent the wheel?
T38 is a bullet proof turbo that does what it says on the tin, don't have to water cool them and when they do go pop, there peanuts to rebuild.
So if your not wanting to willy wave power figures and spend 1800 usd then stick to what we know works.
Every thing has its place. That's my 2 penny's worth

Best results in what way? Cost, reliability, power, kg sq, horses for courses,
I have seen a T38 out perform a gt30 on the same spec engine/dyno/day and the £600 t38 is still going strong when the gt30 shat its guts out over a year ago, at the cost of £1100.

the best results by the same power with much better response, spool.
if you honestly think turbo design hasnt moved forward in 20 years then theres no point continueing the conversation really.

They haven't but the t3/t34/t4 there based on have been around for a very long time lol
No doubt there good turbos but do they compare to a well spec'ed / set up engine on a modern turbo not at all!!!
New style turbos have better spool up better response and make more power total no brainier lol
As for re inventing the wheel lol what a stupid thing to say we would never move on if we didn't use new and improved parts

I completely agree that turbo's have moved on loads in the past years but lets not right off the older stuff, it's still got its place when the penny's are tight. There is always the budget spec for us tight ass's out there.

Mate I agree .. Let them fucking bang on about all the new stuff.. Yea it's great yea it's better... But for me ill stick at what " I LIKE " and everyone else should ... It's good that people are pushing the boundaries on stuff etc... And a agree there's fuckall wrong with the garret range... Yea there yesterday's chip paper but still work don't they ?

I really like the idea of trying a Borg Warner tho... Lets see how it copes flat out just the way a turbo should be run lol

I've never owned a car with a GT Turbo on so can't pass comment, i have always liked the T Series Turbo though and if i were staying around 400-450 bhp i think I'd stick with them, again MY PREFERENCE.

I know the BW unit is supposed to be cracking and has great spool too so plenty of options for sure.

I'm kinda still a bit of a dinasaur when it comes to the good old T34-T38 as i think they're great
