brake upgrades for my budget bonus build!
finally got round to purchasing a first project at the weekend...a mk4 1.3 bonus
still in the planning stages at the moment but as im on a budget just trying to make a list of things i'll need...will prob change the engine to a 1.6 cvh on twin webers hopefully. what brakes should i use? will xr3i ones go straight on? calipers and disks?
cheers lads!

You will have to drill the hub bolt holes out to suit the bigger bolts for the mondeo callipers.
I have this setup on my puma. Very very effective and i had no fade at all round combe, and that was using the half worn pads that came with the callipers, no idea what they were either!!!
Oh if using 15" wheels you will have to shave a bit off the top and bottom front edges of the callipers

Up front I'd go with Focus ST170 front brakes, 300mm and work better (and are cheaper to source) than the Cosworth stuff. On the back a set of RS Turbo drums.
Unless you are going to fit a method of controlling the braking effort to the back wheels rear disc conversions on Mk3/4 Escorts are downright dangerous.
