Default Engine conversion.

Hi I'm sorta new here lol but ye basicly I have a 51 plate 1.6 focus its had a miltek exhaust system fitted inc manifold and a k&n panel filter fitted I've had every engine focus bare the st and the rs but this is quick I've had 140 (private road off corse ) but now the millage has hit 130 thou so the bottom end has started to knock so was thinking about changing the engine to a 2.0l but apart from the obvious engine ecu key exhaust and engine wireing loom what else would I have to change ? Thanks in advance jake

Engine/engine mounts
engine loom/ecu/key/pats sensor you may not need to change the engine loom but will definatley need the ecu and pats sensor/key
clutch
gearbox can use one you have but gearing will be different
exhaust
suspension
brakes

1.6 and 140? if so

oh and just by a 2.0 rather than bother with a point less engine conversion , time and insurance costs, over just buying one ain't worth the hassle.

Speedo prob showed 140 but no way would a stock focus 1.6 with those mods reach 140 legitimately!!

bud starter motor bolts to the gearbox so 2ltr gearbox must have it located on the other side! there for if you keep you box use 1.6 starter ifyou use 2ltr you will need 2ltr starter however as Fil said its not worth time hassle money etc cheaper easier to just buy a 2ltr

Also bud not to rain on your parade but my FRS which was a 1.8lx 4dr too start off when it had original 1.8 lx running gear in before I converted it had, K&N 57i kit,Cams and veniers, double valve springs and head work(ported and polished) bigger leads, tubular manifold,s/s exhaust 3" and a few other bits and it pissed over st170's but after 100 they would pull on me and it only did an accurate 134mph flat out(no I never wasted time or money doing this car I got it this way to convert too FRS) so you speedo may have showed 140 but car certainly didnt do that speed!

bud your 1.6 gearbox would struggle to get you to that speed with a 1.6 engine its not geared for high speed also the zetec is at its best at high revs but not in basically standard form

Also bud I also dont think you realise about ALL FORDS they are not great with calibration and are almost always at least 10mph out once you reach 100mph so if it says 140=130,150=140 etc etc

Lol can I buy the engine? If its that quick get it repaired as it will be quicker than replacing it and what was up with your mates scobby? As it should eat a 1.6 focus!

Is there something in the air in Birmingham that makes cars go faster than anywhere else, maybe there's more N2o circulating about to give you that extra shot of power.

Strange

The reason people dont beleive you is because the 1.6 Focus produces 98bhp and has a top speed of 115mph... Sadly mate your filter and exahust at best will give it 5-10bhp more which is no where near enough to get to 140mph.

But that aside, to answer your question I also think it would be much easier and maybe even cheaper to just buy a 2.0 Focus than to retro fit the engine, ECU, etc..

My Fiesta had a full Milltek and a panel filter, it'd show 140mph on the Speedo, down a big fucking hill, but you were doing about 125 if you were lucky. Your 1.6 Focus does not do 140mph, they're not even geared to that at the limiter, but it wouldn't pull to the limiter in 5th anyway!

Fucking LOL'd at this

Regarding the original Q..
It'd be cheaper to just buy a 2.0 Focus.
A car that has been converted to a higher output motor will be more expensive to insure than a car with the bigger engine as standard.

Quick Reply: Engine conversion.
