I have seen this the flesh recently, not too far from me. Such a shame that they still get targeted the way they do. As above, prob used for a crime and then sold for parts.

You'd be surprised. Most criminals are not to bright. I got pulled over a year or two back in my ERST to be questioned as one had been used locally that morning in a spate of burglary's.

Old fords are easy to steal, would be a lot harder to steal a new car?

Indeed it would. That's why they bump your locks and take the car keys from your gaff.

That was true for a bit, now they are the easiest car to steal ever!

As mentioned, front door busted open, keys in hand and away they go, probably in under 10 seconds, if your keys are on show!

Oh Yeah, but why pick a bright red RS Turbo? not exactly inconspicuous is it?
You could take your pick from thousands of old easy to steal cars that are parked on terrace streets etc.. that no one would look at twice or hear burbling away outside a house that your breaking into..

like you say theyre idiots, they want a flash motor to show off in, and normally go for stuff with pace so that they (think) they can get away, but normally end up crashing them because they cant bloody drive!!

I had the same, well not exactly me i sold the car to a mate and no more than 2 weeks later it was stolen (with a Clifford alarm) and used in an armed robbery at a petrol station and later burnt to nothing, that was back in 1997 though.

It's a shame these car's get taken but they are just worth so much in bit's and gear thats easy to shift on ebay etc - you just have to try and make sure the car is well locked away with little chance of it being moved by a thief and engraving your aftermarket parts with the reg plate in area's where they may not have checked that way if something turns up on ebay etc one part marked could recover the complete car.

Hope it gets found, bloody sick of hearing classic fords being stolen. There was loads last year and some really nice ones too. It's not even march and it's already started.

Should do what I do, get an old mobile that has gps capabilities and shove a giffgaff sim in a on a fiver a month for unlimited text, and hide it in the car, home made tracking for a fiver. You can pick up old htc phones for Ł20-30 now so no excuse

Heard about these methods.

Did you hard wire it into the car? My old HTC only lasts a couple of days on the battery.

Is there any GPS device you can buy where its permanently in the car and you don't need to pay for a annual fee's ? ie fit and forget ?

His spelling actually isn't off, he's just writing Scottish slang down in text form! Granted he looks like a mongo for it!

Yeah just wire a USB charger into
He car, I've got a tytn2 with some tracking software in on it, the battery lasts a few days if not charging, you could always go for a high capacity one.

Just stick a sim in it, I suppose you could just stick some credit on it and forget it until the worse happens.

You just text it command to ask where it is and will send its coordinates back to you.

But it's still an effective way of cheap trackin.

You can also get the dedicated GPS/SMS trackers for pennies from ebay, probably work out cheaper than the value of your old mobile.

Heard nothing but good things about them and a damn sight cheap cheaper and more accurate than other available trackers.

Infact i have just bought one with all this talk of cars going missing, as i have been meaning to for a while!
