Ive had a good few cars, However the cossies have always had the most attention, When i had my 3 door everytime id go for fuel id end up with someone at the car wanting to have a chat!!! They are very iconic and the thing that amazes me is the amount of youngsters that know what they are.

They do get massive attention, Garage forecourts are a nightmare if your in a rush lol

Classic quotes

"wow, theirs something you don't see on the road anymore"

"Nice 500"

"One of neighbours had one, wanted an XR4i myself but...."

"wow, a 500"
"It's not a 500 it's an RS Cosworth"
"A fake then?"
"No it's an RS Cosworth from the factory"
"So it's a real 500 then"
"Fucking hell LOL"

That's the only annoying part of owning a 3dr is trying to explain its not a 500 , & when I Had a saph & told peeps I had a cossie they would always say is than the one with the tail

I will be honest , I enjoy it when people take a interest in the car at petrol stations and places .
When I had my escort I popped to Crawley cruise and I had a young chap walk around it for ages then said it not a real one is it

I get flashed and thumbs up quite abit

One question that's bugging me is why would it be important for a car to be noticed by idiots ? Surely to own a car it's for yourself not to try to impress knobs

If I had a 3dr or escos I'd be pulled everyday lol

I went to a small meet run by another forum (all kinds of modified cars), to my surprise nobody even noticed my Ford sleeper amongst the Scoobies and EVOS, apart from someone asking me if i had left my main car at home, i just said "i like to keep a low profile"

I only seem to get negative attention in mine. Guess being a non cossie and just a modified car doesnt help.

its mostly CHAVs (the majority of the population here) giving dirty looks or the "i hate cunts like you" look

Either its the loud noise that annoys them or its the typical scum/pondlife jealous attitude.

Get it quite a lot people making comments like:

"Whats someone like you driving a nice car like that?"
"you cant leave a car like that here, its like a red rag to a bull"
"driving a posh car like that in an area like this is asking for trouble"

etc etc etc.

I tend to ignore such morons.

Sell your car and buy a BMW E60 535D M Sport in black full of toys and the 19" spider wheels.

Watch how many haters you get with that! Drug dealer will be the main subject of conversation lol

Im 21 years of age, and fords are all i care about, NO interest in any other cars whatsoever.. They just dont appeal to me.. I dont know why i honestly couldnt give you the correct answer to why lol.

Anyway, majority of my mates are pretty thick when it comes to motors. They see something new they love it, they wouldnt have a clue what cosworth is, looks like or where its come from.. But when I see a 1950+ Ford Classic, I go crazy and do happy dance. Then they look at me like WTF?! REALLY?. Each to their own at the end of the day. Nothing will change my mind or opinion

As a kid I remember the EsCos being released.. and since that day iv only ever wanted one of them.. Id pick a cossie over any motor running project on this planet.

theres a local kebab shop and the 25 year old owner drives a bright yellow lambo all earned from the small kebab shop yeah right must be selling a shit load of kebabs!! More likely the copious ganga hes growing somewhere

druggies arent subtle round here as the police dont seem interested so they aint subtle.

Only problem with a BMW is no one would ever let me out junctions or similar

I know this thread is about Cosworths but any old Fords from the XR and RS ranges turn my head especially if they have been well looked after.

answer is yes, by a below average intelligence dirty cunt

any woman with a brain would choose a guy that can afford a car, not a ford

I agree Jay . Who else would be impressed by a 24 year old Ford outdated in the 1990's. If you went to a Morris Minor or Skoda forum the same blinkered view of there chosen car would exist. In my circle of friends not one would know what a Cossie is let alone admire one. Try telling the average motorist out there that you take an old car already terrible on petrol & mod it to do even less miles to the gallon, the vast majority just dont get it. Love you Cosworth but dont kid yourself that the masses are swooning as you pass by. We are a small minority group with a totally blinkered view of our chosen vice. LONG MAY IT CONTINUE.

Your right a Cosworth is not showing off & certainly not a status symbol in the world of wealth. If you have money you dont have to worry what others think. Anyone who knows me will tell you im a 1930's Morris 8 fanatic on here thats seen as total nonsense how could i prefer a vintage car to a Cosworth. Its each to his own.

I sort of agree with you Rod but i'd say true petrol heads will always appreciate cars, irrelevant of what make they are. I'm 26 but i'd still see your Morris 8 and be impressed.

The way i see it is muppets/chavs like big bodykits and shit cars and the like but true enthusiasts like allsorts.

Very true Glenn, a lot of people have nice material possessions including cars but they also have huge credit card debts and are not living within their means.

To be honest no one owns a Cosworth because it is the last word in performance/comfort/ reliability etc, they are just great fun & always attract attention of some sort, most of it positive. You do however need a good sense of humor, as everyone you speak to knows someone with a 500bhp RS500 ( maybe they are actually RS 50,000s? ) & the first question you get in an Escos is "is it a real one?"

Most women don't like them as they are loud, smelly & too fast

In the petrol head world Cosworths still turn heads, they were the legends of the 80s & 90s.
