Default Is this a Escort mk5b change over year?

Is this what they call a Escort mk5b change over year? ...and is the ''change over year'' bit reference to this model (oval grill type) anywhere between 1992 to 1995 ?

Mk5, 5a, 6.
Yes that's a 5a.
As said though opinions vary, some even say that's a 6 and the later is a 7.

Is the mk5a just the early mk5 with the slatted grill, 1990 to 1992?

IIRC in terms of variations of looks, there was the first one with slatted grill then this one with the oval 'mouth' lol then it changed to the smooth one piece headlight mk6.

Reason i ask all this is i'm trying to find what clutch release bearing to use for a ib5 box using a rst ap clutch and some have quoted on various threads a mk5b change over year, hence this thread lol

What would a mk5b change over be?

Any year of mk5b from 1992 - 1995, or the first or the last models in this line?

tail end of 92 to early 95 were the smiley grill models like shown, basically a mk6 rear end with a mk5 front end and bonnet change

One iv got with the box is flat, rst one as per matched to clutch is recessed type. ib5 one from the box will make the clutch very stiff

I might be wrong here but aren't rst clutches compatible with mtx boxes and flywheels not ib5? I vaguely went down this road when I had mine years ago is the rst clutch 220mm and ib5 210mm or something daft like that?

I can't see why you want to use an ib5 box with an rst clutch unless its turbo'd? In which case I really don't know why you're using an ib5 they're utter shit and made of chocolate

RST uprated clutches are fine with the ib5 if you use the correct flywheel.

Its the mk5b change over year release bearing that's the issue. Need the part number for this recessed version as per pic below.

Here's a facelift on a L plate, guessing 1994?

http://www.kintyreforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1734

Googled K plate mk5 Escort and a couple of Vans popped up with the same open mouth grill front end.
