Default Wiring in a Ciggy lighter socket for ignition on position?

Hi Guys,

My ciggy lighter doesnt seem to work and I need something to power my Road Angel! In my old car I had a 2 way ciggy lighter adapter running from the stereo circuit so it came on when the ignition was on! I have tried to do that in the Series 2 and it doesnt seem to power up

Does anybody know how else I can fit a ciggy lighter port?

Thanks

The fag lighter on the S2 are perminantly live, even when the ignition is off. I'd check the wiring behing the socket and make sure everything is connected properly.

Also if the socket its self has been used by a smoker chances are its all clogged up. Get your self another socket from a parts store (halfords do em) - They're easy enough to fit, just a little fiddly getting the old socket out and the new one in.

I dont want to start chopping up the Road Angel cable in case I cannot get it to work and then I am left with a useless road angel

does it not come with a seperate "hard wire" kit?

u can be an "inline" fag lighter socket which u could then hardwire into the dash. Which means you wouldnt have to cut the fag lighter plug on the road angel, but it would all still be hidden behind the dash - also means you can take the feed from an ignition supply.

actually, thinking about it if u're keeping the fag lighter plug that will be fused so u dont really have to worry.

but it wont hurt to put one in anyway. I'd say to match what ever fuse is in the road angel fag plug.
