Just got a Ford focus mark 1 (2002).
Has a really bad high idle problem. Whenever I stop (junctions, lights etc.) engine surges to about 2000 revs, then after about 5 seconds drops to 1000 but still sounds too loud and too racey.
Also when crawling along in traffic jams I have to keep jabbing the brakes, stop me crashing in to the car inn front and when I release brakes car accelerates itself!
I've replaced throttle position sensor and cleaned out idle air control valve (reset ECU each time). No OBD fault codes.
Weird thing is, if I put front and rear screen heaters on, revs drop to 750 which is spot on but I can't drive around with my screen heaters on all the time![Smile](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Any ideas please?
Cheers
Andy
